Energy legislation unveiled by House Republicans last week in response to the Waxman-Markey climate change and energy bill focuses heavily on an expansion of the nation’s nuclear industry, calling for construction of up to 100 new nuclear power plants by 2030 to meet the nation’s energy needs and environmental challenges.

In introducing American Energy Act, Rep. Mike Pence (R-Ind.)—also chair of the House Republican Conference—called the legislation an “ ‘all of the above plan’ that offers energy independence, more jobs and a cleaner environment without imposing a national energy act.”

Too bad the republicans didn’t do something about this 4-5-6 years ago before they were sidelined by their own greed, corruption and incompetence.

Not a fart’s chance in a wind storm. This bill makes too much sense.

Why do we have to settle on John Boner as House GOP Leader instead of Mike Pence?
Why?

The lack of bold, committed leadership at the top is why the Republicans lost the House, and why they won’t win it back.
Mike Pence = GOP victory
John Boner = yet more GOP defeat

I wonder how many real jobs would have been created, and the long term economic impact of spending $787 billion to build nuke plants?

Maybe the GOP could show a few California windmill farms and ask which is harder on the environment - a reactor like the ones Duke power has all over the South, on lakes with million dollar homes, all around the lake, or an ugly windmill farm?

What folks like you and me think is that it is too bad GWB was not as hard on Denny Hastert, Tom Delay and Ted Stevens as he had been on the radicals in the ME.

Yep. Again the GOP — too little, too late.

They wasted opportunity after opportunity and twittle-twattled repeatedly just to “get along.” Bush lead the parade of the meaningless compassionate conservative crap.

Friggin’ fools. I’ll never forgive them.
