I dunno, but is that likely to happen? Aren’t AKs about as common as kitchen knives in Iran? And the Revlolutionary Guard - or at least parts - might side with the protestors. Or is that wishful thinking? Anyone?
Iran spent large amounts of money beefing up their internal security forces a number of years ago.
They will deal with the protesters when they get the journalists out of the country.
AKs about as common as kitchen knives in Iran ............................. Yeah, but they’re in the hands of the Revolutionary guards and their families.
In some instances the people have stormed Basij headquarters buildings and set them on fire killing some of the "thugs" as Iranians refer to them. However, for the most part they are unarmed and have to depend on sheer numbers to fight back.
Iran is not Iraq or Afghanistan (tribal society with lot's of arms). Indeed Iran has strict gun laws. The citizens are disarmed.
