Well, the current uprising (because that is what it is looking like at this point) is unprecedented in the history of the Islamic Republic. That makes it far more important than the sham election that preceded it. The stakes now are much, much higher than the Moussavi-Ahmadinejad fight.

As I said before, “The only thing that will make an actual difference there is if buildings start burning and mullahs start getting hung from lamp posts in mass numbers. Then, when the Mullahs the people dont get start fleeing to the tribal areas of Pakistan, and to their little hidey holes in Switzerland, well know Iran is changing.”
Frankly, I hope the mullahs hang and don’t make it to Switzerland. If Iran falls to a somewhat secular government, it will be the most important geopolitical shift since the end of the cold war. Most of the credit would be due to George Bush. This would not be possible without a democratic Iraq on Iran’s border.
