Verrry interesting report.
Obama certainly will take credit, which will be all the more galling given his pathetic failure to denounce the sham election or express support for the protesters.
Thank you!
Sometimes I like him, and sometimes I don’t.
He’s done some dang fine reporting on this from what I’ve heard.
I can’t wait until my glasses are out of the shop. ;o)
The fraudulent government in Iran has lost all legitimacy.
Everyone knows the vote was rigged, and by backing the results, the Ayatollahs have exposed themselves as the puppetmasters they are. It seems the uprising may be approaching critical mass.
We should all give up any hope of 0bama making a statement about the situation in Iran until after it is resolved, one way or another. Our pResident is paralysed by indecision and uncertainty. His priority is with being on the side of the winners, not with the just.
After the Shah was overthrown the crazies went about killing many who were Shah backers. Many others like my neighbor had to flee the country.
If there is a successful revolution I hope it happens again this time only the “mullahs” and their backers are the ones offed.
So we might have another Iranian Revolution.
We don’t know if this is true or not. It could be a complete ruse to discourage real dissenters. I.e. pretenting that these guards were in protest of the gov’t when they weren’t..
Of course there is no free press to find the truth out.
IF these people actually were accomplices they will be strung up in public.
they are already being tortured to give up their co-conspirators.
Obama will do nothing though ...
The Iraqis were the Republican Guard, the supposedly elite army corps. The Iranians are the Revolutionary Guards, now sort of an internal special police. Little confusion here because of similar names.
Nothing? Au contraire.
He’ll be taking notes.
This is big news - however, I don’t see their movement gaining traction at least until Ahmadinjed is out. The IRGC is
“They pulled 16 of their so called finest from the ranks who were probably as loyal as the next and will sacrifice them at a public gathering for the good of the regime to strike fear in others...”
Stalin did exactly the same during the purges of the 1930’s. He started with the Party, extended even to his security organs, and finished with 1/3 of his officer corps at a time when he was greatly expanding the size of his standing army and on the eve of war with Germany. Just about all of his victims were loyal to him. Many cried “long live Stalin!” at their firing squads.
At the end, nobody dreamed of dissent, everyone feared being purged. And nobody would pee if their pants were on fire without a written order from above.
Agreed.
Agreed.
You are correct.
It was late last night and I did not catch this. My bust and I stand corrected.
"So... Mullah... would you like a cigarette while you 'mull' over where you went wrong?"
It's gotten much, much bigger than that.
I already heard this yesterday, not the arrests, but that the guard said it won’t fight Iranians.....................
