I’m so sorry to hear you lost your kitty. I’ve nursed two super-geriatric cats through their old age, and got sooooooo close to both of them. It was a lot of work and money, and painful to lose them, but I’d do it all over again. They enjoyed a good quality of life in spite of their old age ailments. Neither of my super-oldies had cancer though. Only one I’ve ever lost to cancer was a mere 14 years old (kidney cancer).

We lost our 19 year old cat (Tom) 9 years ago now. He was healthy his entire life despite being a kitten rescued from a litter a feral cat dropped in the middle of a hay field.

On the day he died, he just jumped on my lap and had a heart attack and died. Pee'd all over me in the process. His way of saying goodbye in his own 'funny' way. He was like that, always doing something mischievous then running away laughing.

Oddly, on mothers day a year after Tom died, (mothers day was also the day we found that kitten 19 years ago in the middle of a field), we found another liter, and a kitten with same markings- identical. We called him Tim. He's now 9 years old, never a health problem. And he's the exact same mischievous cat who thinks he's a dog (because he was also raised with big dogs and knows how to boss them around)

Isn't that uncanny?

Thank you. I remember on an emergency visit; only like two in her 19 year history, she was bleeding. Turned out to be hair. The vet remarked at 14 years old she was in remarkable shape. He couldn’t believe it.

I really miss my sweet Eloise.
