Uh-oh ping? Way too early to be pushing panic buttons, but I am surprised that Deeds has a lead to start with, I figured it’d be basically even.

The fact that McConnell only has 78% Republican support seems significant, why is that? He seems like a very solid candidate (from what I can see from out of state).

No, uh-oh. Just, it’s not going to be easy...

I suspect there are 2 factors in the 78%. The MSM is trying to portray Deeds as a moderate, when the truth is he got the Post endorsement because he’s the most to the left, and biggest tax hiker of the three. Deeds also claimed to be the “most progressive” in the race.

I would say the other factor is the negative press that the GOP got over the whole chairmanship mess.

BUT, this is early. No one’s really watching. This is just a signal that we can take nothing for granted.

That's not surprising. Deeds is one of the "Blue Dog" conservative Democrats who polls well downstate, while still managing to hold the Democratic voters in NoVA and Richmond.
