I know that many in the southern areas are so used to the long growing season, and cheap produce, that it's hard to relate to the northern states.

Tomatoes are way over $2 a pound ($2.50-$2.99) here and local garden tomatoes are several months away.
A head of lettuce is about $1.50.

Steak is cheaper than a salad here!

Fresh fruit is pretty much just apples in the fall. I hate apples!..lol.

Wow, we just don't realize how good we have it down here. Even at the grocery we're not seeing prices that high! It's hot right now - 91 degrees is the high for today and we will be moving towards 100 degrees by the weekend. Just have to protect some things from the sun and keep the sprinkler going most days.

It won't really cool off until the end of September or the first of October - we will be begging for some of your cool weather in a few weeks!
