From a strictly phoenetic perspective, this is a thought provoking riff.
Did you read your own story or is your comment sarcasm?? Steele's position is support for traditional marriage.
Government couldn’t “discriminate” if they got out of the marriage business, but that makes too much sense.
What's that supposed to mean?
I think Steele got this exactly right. I agree with him and on this one issue, not Cheney. However, I understand why Cheney does stand for it. I can’t say for sure how I’d look at it if my daughter made the decision that Cheney’s daughter made. I think Steele’s answer respects his differences with a lion of our party. I don’t WANT the RNC chair bashing someone I like and respect as much as I do Cheney.
I now know I live in Bazarro World. Cheney for gay marriage. Steele against. The libs must be totally confused now... I sure am.
Then Cheney shoots back, I would hope that a wise white man with a lesbian daughter with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a squishy token black RINO who hasn’t lived that life.
And the excreta strikes the oscillator...
Who cares what Steel does or doesn’t do? Cheney is a private citizen and entitled to his own opinion. Period.
I think Steele should have left it at “I support traditional marriage”.
If Steele thinks Cheney is wrong, he should say so, whether he likes him or not. If you like him enough, you should care about him enough to tell him when he is wrong.
Yes, in private.
I made a mistake. Turns out Steele actually agreed in same-sex marriage. My mistake all.
Wait, the media's been telling us how horrible Cheney is and what a monster and he should just shut up and go to prison, etc. Now they champion his "support"...
The Dems certainly didn't want it public and I can't imagine GOP wanting to make a big deal of it either.
anyway, just a random thought I had this morning.
Please what? Did you read the article you posted? Steele is defending traditional marriage, while Cheney supports gay "marriage".
I love Cheney, but he is plain wrong on this, and I agree with Steele that he probably is influenced on this by his lesbian daughter.
Nothing wrong with pointing that out. Steele is 100% correct on this.
Steele said Monday he also thought the battle would be worked out at the state level that states will be the “ultimate arbiters” of what constitutes a legal marriage.
So you could also title this story, Steele agrees with Cheney on same sex marriage!
I’m not sure Cheney actually believes in same-sex marriage. I think he probably wants his daughter left alone to live her life.
It’s the second time (out of several hundred) where Steele has taken the right side on an issue.
On the other hand, I agree with you. Why is he out there publicly attacking Cheney, whose comment I must have missed, when he could have been attacking Obama for his recent very public announcement from the White House of LGBT Pride month?
Frankly, he did it because he sees a chance to shut up a dangerous critic on his own side who is making him look bad. Whereas attacking Obama might offend the Log Cabin Republicans.
THAT is not admirable at all.
So now the republican base is for same sex marriage and the liberal TV is for traditional marriage? This is why I refuse to mimic the talk radio mantra that says: “I am THE real conservative!” I have never seen a party so screwed up.
This is historically the time to win elections and we are off on idiotic arguments like that. what's next? Amnesty?
