You raise some great points. However, it must be remembered that though the Civil War ended slavery, it was started over secession.

That, too, is the lesson of John Brown, who, in the battle hymn of the Republic, lies moldering in his grave.

Ever been to Harpers Ferry?

The memorial plaques and literature there, maintained and distributed by the National Park Service, practically idolize the man.

I confess - I struggle to feel bad about the Tiller murder. But it was murder and the perp ought to be executed. We can’t win this war through vigilante tactics.

You mean like the peacenik who shot two soldiers in Arkansas? The people just elected one of them to the Presidency.

Good point. It seems like a "test for the" anti-war movement, doesn't it?

Is zer0 "outraged?"

What if Chicago has 7 shooting deaths in 24 hours? Is this a test for the Community Organizer in Chief? Where's 0bama's outrage?

When it becomes necessary for oppressive chains to be thrown off because of the despotism of the government. Inasmuch as abortion is an issue of disenfranchisement (taxation without representation), and it is, then there is a point at which the oppression of the despots must be overthrown.

It may very well come to that.

It would almost be the Civil War in reverse. The southern states seceded to preserve slavery and the federal government used secession as an excuse to end slavery. In this case, pro-life states might secede to end abortion and then the ball would be in the federal governments court. However, I do not believe that their is ANY CHANCE that the federal government would start another war to preserve the Union.

I wouldn’t ever do it myself. But I won’t condemn it.

I agree. I will also refuse to be swayed by the media’s hyteria. How many babies were killed on the day the Tiller was shot? How many others were murdered in America? How many raped, assault, been victims of theft, etc. To focus pity only on Tiller would be obscene. These are evil times we are in and we must be in but not of the world.

This is NOT a test for the pro life movement. That is a false premise. Indeed, after 9/11 we were scolded by the left and the MSM that we needed introspection and self reflection. We needed to understand why the terrorist hated us. We were told not to look at every Muslim in the same light as the hijackers. We were told over and over and over again that tolerance and understanding is what we needed to exercise.

This is a test for the left. Let’s see if they extend a hand of understanding. Let’s see if there is any self reflection on their part to see if there was anything in their behavior that sparked the violence. Let’s see if the Blame America first translates to Blame the Left first.

Just as the free pass was given to muslims who were dancing in the streets, rejoicing and laughing after 9/11, so do all pro life supporters worldwide get that same free pass. Any celebrating must be met with tolerance and understanding. Leftist please do NOT make direct eye contact and hold your heads in shame. You and you alone bear the guilt of this.

There is no room for anyone on the left to express any anger or outrage. Any negative comments will only fuel a fire they started. The Muslim community was never held responsible for the hijackers..they were allowed to celebrate...we could not profile them at airports..they had to be treated with kid gloves...there cannot be a double standard on the part of the left here, otherwise, we would think they were inconsistent, unstable, unthinking, intolerant, hate filled and only looking for a convenient excuse to hate all things Christian....and we KNOW that doesn’t describe them or the MS press.../sarc

On a typical day in America 3500 INNOCENT BABIES are MURDERED, NO OTHER CRIME even come close.

More Americans are killed in abortuaries each year than die from heart attacks, strokes and cancer COMBINED.

I don’t have to say I’m sorry for my pro-life viewpoint. I didn’t kill anyone, nor I incite any fool to take anybody’s life.

How come when 9-11 happened we were supposed to separate the terrorists from the “peaceful” believers of Islamic faith.

How come when an illegal alien murders someone we are supposed to separate that criminal from all the “law-abiding” illegal aliens.

But how come when some criminal kills an abortionists doctor we are supposed to beat our chest and plead “mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa.”

The cold-blooded murder of Dr. George Tiller on Sunday morning presents the pro-life movement in America with a crucial moral test - will we condemn this murder in unqualified terms?

It may take some time. If we have a candle-light vigil, funeral service, and grave dedication for every one of his victims, and we give a week of media attention to each of those victims, perhaps there might be some time to address Dr. Tiller's death by somewhere around November 27, 2777.

The law rightly affirms that the killing of Dr. George Tiller is murder.

That same law excuses the killing of millions of unborn babies.

"The law perverted! And the police powers of the state perverted along with it!..."

I won’t shed a tear for Tiller. But his killer is in no way part of the Pro-Life movement.

What if he had died of a heart attack instead?

What killed him is an abstraction when I think about what he would’ve done this morning had he gotten up for work as usual.

If that is so, and the cause is so righteous, then to follow that logic to its natural conclusion, why not form armies of vigilantes, and go shoot every single person in the abortion industry. The bloodier the better. Seems we would have no shortage of volunteers for that army.

Then they could tell Jesus how righteous they are.

Count me out.
