By midafternoon Sunday, authorities had a 50-something man in custody in connection with the murder of Wichita abortion doctor George Tiller, killed while serving as an usher at his church.
However, the motive for the crime we can all surmise, given the vitriolic rhetoric aimed at Tiller these past couple of decades by anti-abortion activists.
And if were right about that, then we know the identities of his accomplices.
They include everyone who has ever called Tillers late-term abortion clinic a murder mill.
Whoever called Tiller Tiller the Killer.
Groups that fomented hate toward a man who, rightly or wrongly, believed he was serving a noble purpose by being one of the few doctors in the country who performed late-term abortions.
Hate. Not heated opposition. Not strong disagreement.
But blind hatred.
The kind of hate that would prompt some maniac to take a gun into a church and shoot a man to death in front of friends and family.
His accomplices know they have blood on their hands, which might explain why they were quick to issue statements expressing disapproval of Tillers murder.
Among them, the anti-abortion group Operation Rescue, whose words drip with hypocrisy: We are shocked at this mornings disturbing news that Mr. Tiller was gunned down. Operation Rescue has worked for years through peaceful, legal means, and through the proper channels to see him brought to justice. We denounce vigilantism and the cowardly act that took place this morning. We pray for Mr. Tillers family that they will find comfort and healing that can only be found in Jesus Christ.
Shocked? Are any of us really shocked that it would come to this after the many years of demonizing one man? Certainly the groups founder, Randall Terry, didnt seem shocked when he issued this statement on Sunday:

Free speech is now tantamount to murder?
Obamber sleaze machine rolls on.
start of a civil war
Yes, just like the acts perpetrated on Sept 11 means that NO muslim has any moral standing to speak out against murder! [/sarc]
Ridiculous.
By this logic everyone who fought against Hitler had no moral standing.
With Tiller slaying, abortion opponents lose their moral standing
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
No they don’t. Only in the mind of a Useful Idiot with a Marxist agenda.
Commie propaganda.
I wonder if Liberals will self-examine themselves. One man’s hero is another man’s murderer
Hardly. One lone not-job murdering lunatic does not equate to (and absolve) an entire murdering leftwing baby-killing ideology.
>start of a civil war
“The shot heard around the Nation.”
I don’t know... we shall see.
This clown is full of it. We can condemn and denounce Tiller in the strongest terms—and rightly so—without being responsible, in any way, for the actions of this one fellow who shot him.
Simple minded drivel.
Those who are PRO-LIFE don’t murder.
This was not done by a pro-lifer but by someone who was pro-choice. He chose to end someone else’s life. He used a gun. Others use forceps. Both are murder.
How convenient for the baby-killing gun-grabber abortionists that this tragedy “just happened” to occur when they are trying to ramrod immoral, unConstitutional new anti-gun and citizen profiling legislation through Congress!
Those with the least conscience and the most to gain power and wealth from such a tragedy are the most likely to have suborned it. Follow the money.
So all Muslims lose their standing after 9/11?
So by this reasoning if someone had shot G.W. then the left who has called him murderer and not my president would be guilty of perpetrating the crime too? Nah I didn’t think so./sarcasm
“With Tiller slaying, abortion opponents lose their moral standing”
Oh, how deliciously embarrassed these idiots are going to be if this crime is shown to be motivated by something completely unrelated to abortion...
Yes, many of us consider what Dr. Tiller did to be cold blooded, calculated, barbaric murder of children for profit.
There is no more heinous act imaginable. Therefore it was perfectly predictable that some right thinking individual would blow his murderous backside away.
So, the lesson to be taken from this is:
Even though killing children is 'legal', it's not a good idea to make ones living practicing it. It's most especially not a good idea to be very vocal about the fact that one makes a living from this barbaric practice.
I'll not mourn Tillers death. The world is better off without him.

Sorry, Kansas City Star, but Scott Roeder’s act was his own. It doesn’t “stain” me or any other pro-life conservative that I know.
