Wardaddy is a nickname...it’s a dark humour thing...and it’s not what folks think actually

I had to change my old "war----" handle because of the same sort of (often willful) misconceptions.

wardaddy is most commonly prison slang both here and in the US.

bulldaddy is another one..means the same...kinda like range boss but meaner

it's a joke....”will you be my wardaddy, my protector sort of”

I first heard it in Sierra Leone from Brit security guys and we used to laugh about it quite a bit...in the joint a wardaddy is the punk boss ( but not always about punks), hence when things would get weird folks would joke about how they needed a wardaddy to look out for them

silly male adult humor like ranting about female genitalia or breasts

folks think it's military or snake eater stuff but it's not

anyhow...it stuck from long ago and folks who know me from the mid 80s on call me that a lot..even my kids do when teasing me
