My mother who was an Italian immigrant always knew that Liberace was gay. She’s say in Italian that he must be “half woman because a real man where slacks with the zipper in front.”

The correct term is “Poofter”. As in “Pommie Poofter”, a favorite term the Aussies use to describe Englishmen.
