LAS VEGAS In a Western trip devoted mainly to raising political money, President Barack Obama is highlighting two favorite issues: clean energy and his economic stimulus plan.
The president was scheduled to tour the "photovoltaic array" at Nellis Air Force Base, near Las Vegas, on Wednesday. The solar-powered cells provide a quarter of the base's power needs, White House officials said.
Obama also was expected to discuss the progress of his $787 billion stimulus package, ..
Obama sandwiched the midday event between two political fundraisers:

I bet he didn’t go to Yucca Flats to promote REALLY REALLY clean energy

Only during a sunny day. What provides ALL of the bases power needs the other 12 hours of the day, and for 24 hours on cloudy days? Or does the base shut down and go into a trance until it powers back up?
Uh, yeah. In a desert area where the sun shines bright and often, and rain is a rarity.
It still only provides a fraction of the power needed.
Just wait until the standard bearers of Gaia and lovers of the midget horn toed backflipping desert hopping frog or somesuch protest the loss of habitat.
Still stumpin’.
Oh goody, that means Zero is going to let us have power for 6 hours a day (maybe).
“You cant get corporate jets. You cant go take a trip to Las Vegas or go down to the Super Bowl on the taxpayers dime, “-Obama, Feb. 2009.
But it’s OK to take a trip to Vegas on Air Force One on the taxpayer’s dime.
However the White House failed to add, "at more than 10 times the cost of conventional electric power and with no significant reduction in carbon emission."
Thank you for the honest lede Mr. Babington. Refreshing it is coming from the 0bama tongue bathing al-MSM...
Hey Obomba - stimulate this!!
Get out of Nevada, ya bum.
For just a quarter of the base’s power, it takes up an awful lot of space. Aannnd, it is the ugliest group of panels I have ever seen. Definitely an eyesore.
Oh my freakin' god!
The White House job claims are difficult to verify because they are based on estimates of how bad the economy might have been without the stimulus rather than actual employment data. The country has lost 1.3 million jobs since February, a figure the Obama administration says would have been far higher if not for the recovery effort.
Confusing the masses with the "addition by subtraction" strategy?
