So...the Portuguese don't count?

I would say it does count in my book. Not by the leftists of course. And yet they consider Brazilians to be hispanic. They are just amking excused to consider the nomination historic.
I’m of Portuguese descent (along with a lot of other nationalities), and they won’t let us into the club.
People who came to the USA from Portugal are Portuguese. People who came to USA from Spain are Spanish. (According to the census people they are “White” or “Caucasian”.) People who came from Spain to any country (except Brasil) in the Americas including Puerto Rico, a part of the USA) but then came to the USA are “Hispanic”, which is a genre, not a race. If they didn’t come from Spain, but from Africa (as slaves) or were there already (Indians, as Columbus called them) or any combination of the aforementioned speaking Spanish, they’re “Hispanic”, as well. It’s all about racist pandering. It has nothing to do with reality. I am a native American because I was born in the USA, but I am not a Native American, another genre. (Note the caps.) The Nazis had their own genres, the foremost of which was “Aryan”, the others of which were “English” (and other western Europeans) and the the “untermenchen”, which included all the Jews, Slavs, etc. The racial rules of the Democrats of the 19th and 20th centuries (one drop of African blood and you’re a “Negro”, aka “Black”, and most recently “African American”) still apply, though. But wait, Cardoza practiced the race of Judaism...I mean the religion of Judaism...oh, it’s so hard to pigeonhole some people!
