Southwest will not appear in searches on some travel sites - you must go directly to their site. Jet Blue and Air Tran also service BWI. If you are checking a travel website for air transportation, use the city code WAS - this causes the search engine to look at all three DC area airports (Reagan National, Dulles, and BWI) so you can see your cheapest option.
Sometimes taking Southwest to BWI can save you hundreds over the other airports (though sometimes not). But worth checking if you've willing to accept less rapid connections to save on your airfare.
Beware of DC cabs - last I was in DC they were not metered - they operate on a Byzantine “zone” system that is an open invitation for drivers to relieve you of excess cash.
I have gone to DC via BWI many times using SWA. It’s pretty easy with the Mark & Metro.
In this case my brother, who can’t come, gave me airline points for a free ticket into Reagan National. I’ll take the Metro from there to the Sheraton. I should be able to avoid cabs entirely.
Your info is good, though, and someone else will benefit from it.
BWI can be a good choice for some people - it needs to be said though that BWI is a bit of a distance from Arlinton, VA and can take over an hour driving depending on traffic.
Thanks for posting the info!!
What’s a good price for a round trip ticket from Ft Lauderdale Fl, Airport? I saw $148 non stop round trip on Jet Blue on Travelocity.
