I’ll be there on Saturday for the march, the good Lord willing and the creek don’t rise. Won’t be needing a room, though. Is there a meeting place for Freepers?

I have a ping list for my state, a few small ping lists for some other states but not every state. A link to this thread has been posted on every Free Republic state forum. I believe many freepers have not registered on their Free Republic state forum so often miss information pertaining to their state.

If any freeper needs directions on how to register on their state FreeRepublic forum, just Freepmail me and I will send you directions.

It is up to all of us to get information out to other FReepers in our states. Threads are often missed so please spread the information to your family and friends. :)

I have not heard about the March on Washington for July 4th. Many events are planned for the September 11-13 weekend.

Once the hotel is selected, the information will be posted on this thread including directions on how Freepers are to make their reservations. Details on meeting places and events will follow. :)

This is great..but may I ask why we’re not doing this in conjunction with the July 4th march on washington?

Hildy, I don't know about the July 4th march on washington, but I do know that there are going to be hundreds of events across the country on July 4th.

Fresno is having a BIG one, like the tea party on April 15th which had thousands attending.

Jim Robinson was there as the Free Republic Headquarters is located there.

He and the Central Valley/Fresno Chapter will be there in force on July 4th!

It’s not being done in conjunction with the July 4 events because the organizers of the National Taxpayer Tea Party movement picked these dates.

The organizers picked the date because it was the first one avaiable to do a large event.

It was planned a long time in advance because these things take a lot of planning.

Maybe you know all of that, but I just thought I would post it on this thread.

I’ll be updating this thread with information for Freepers who are staying at the Hotel and those who are coming in for the day or not staying with us.

Once we have a better idea of how many people are coming and which hotel we are using I’ll get information out on where to meet up each day.

I’d heard the date was picked for those very reasons.

Originally we planned a Florida Chapter - D.C. trip. After reading how many other freepers planned on going to the Sept. rally, we opened it up to all of Free Republic.

I probably should not have named this a Free Republic “Convention” given the main focal point is the Tea Party.

It was too good to pass up the chance to meet up with Freepers for 9-11 memorials, THE National Tea Party and a great time for all Freepers to get together. It’s not often an event takes place that can bring Freepers together from across the entire country. There is no way we could pass up this opportunity.

The Washington Monument is on a grassy knoll, and both the Capitol and Lincoln Memorial are on hills with gentle slopes, but if you have trouble getting around, I think the distance is going to be the biggest problem. It’s about 2 miles from one end of the Mall to the other.

I can walk 1000 miles on flat ground, but 10 feet of hill means real pain.
