So now do you think liberals will learn from this? They never do. Watch them now try to push the tax burden down to lower and lower brackets. A logical person would say , “Maybe we should cut expenses and lure some of the job creating investor class back.” but of course we’re expecting the impossible from liberals.

I am not a millionaire, but I did own a small business in Maryland that averaged about 2.5 million in sales a year.

I ccompletely closed down my business in Maryland in Dec 2007, and started all over in WV in 2008. I also changed my residence from Maryland to WV (yeah, WV has its own problems, but is much, MUCH better than MD).

When I closed my business, half of my employees moved to WV with me and the new entity, and half decided not to (in spite of me offering to cover their moving costs).

BOTTOM LINE: the tax situation in Maryland meant that seven people (six employees plus me) are no longer paying taxes to the Peoples Republic of Maryland.

“They lacked the courage of their convictions!”

I’ve said for years that Democrats are merely communists who lack the courage of their convictions.

0bama is the closest we’ve had so far. Even he is having trouble with his follow-through...darned Constitution keeps hangin’ him up.

These people do not need Rush Limbaugh to curse them with failure. They will fail on their own.

Isn't it telling that they didn't call for "’till there are no poor no more?" Of course, they never counted on the rich picking up their marbles and leaving the game.

You are going to stay rich and stay here if we have to lock you up to achieve it.

It’ll get worse before it gets better.

Good luck in West Virginia!

Industrialists “Galt”ing out of there.

TEN PRINCIPLES OF CONSERVATISM
By Russell Kirk (Distilled by Jo Nuvark)

FIRST Conservatives believe there exists an enduring order with moral absolutes.
Man and that order are in harmony with one another. Human nature is a constant, and moral truths are permanent.

SECOND Conservatives embrace custom, convention and continuity.
To destroy old customs dictates that new (and perhaps inferior) customs are necessary to replace them. Conservatives champion tradition because they prefer the devil they know to the devil they don’t know.

THIRD Conservatives believe in the principle of prescription.
Why change? To prosper, we must stand upon the proven foundation laid in our past.

FOURTH Conservatives are cautious and discreet.
Any public measure ought to be judged by its probable long-run consequences, not merely by temporary advantage or popularity.

FIFTH Conservatives pay attention to the principle of variety.
The only true forms of equality are the Last Judgment and before a just court of law. All other attempts at leveling lead to social stagnation. Society requires honest and able leadership, yet if natural and institutional differences are destroyed, soon a tyrant or demagogue will create new forms of inequality.

SIXTH Conservatives understand that man is flawed.
Because man is imperfect, no perfect social order can be created. All that can reasonably be expected is a tolerably ordered, just, and free society, in which some evils, maladjustments, and suffering will continue to lurk.

SEVENTH Conservatives believe that freedom and property are closely linked.
Separate property from private possession, and the beast becomes master of all. Upon the foundation of private property, great civilizations are built. The more who possess private property, the more stable and productive society. Economic leveling does not equal economic progress.

EIGHTH Conservatives uphold voluntary community and they oppose involuntary collectivism.
In a healthy community, the decisions most directly affecting the lives of citizens are made voluntarily - and in general agreement by those affected - by local political bodies or by private associations. But when these functions pass to a centralized authority, genuine community is threatened.

NINTH Conservatives perceive the need for prudent restraints upon power and upon human passions.
When every person claims to be a power unto himself society falls into anarchy. A state in which an individual or a small group are able to dominate the wills of their fellows without check is a despotism. The conservative tries to limit and balance political power. Power the revolutionaries thought oppressive in the hands of an old regime, can become worse in the hands of tyrannical new masters.

TENTH Conservatives understand that permanence and change must be recognized and reconciled. When a society is progressing in some areas, usually it is declining in other areas. Conservatives know that any healthy society is influenced by two forces - Permanence and its Progression. Conservatives favor reasonable progress. Nothing in a society should ever be wholly old, and nothing should ever be wholly new.

The main failure of socialism is when they run out of other people’s money.

***So Maryland, how is all the “Hope & Change” working for you?

***Hey millionaire... Doesn’t everyone deserve what you’ve worked hard for?

***Don’t spread my wealth. Spread my work ethic.

***The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of OTHER PEOPLE’S MONEY. (Margaret Thatcher)

***You can’t blame Bush anymore.

***There were 1.5 million people at Obama’s inauguration. Only 14 missed work that day.

***Look out taxpayers. Obama thinks you’re rich.

***You are not entitled to what I have earned.

***Our democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not. (Thomas Jefferson)

***A government big enough to give you everything you want is strong enough to take everything you have. (Thomas Jefferson)

***You cannot spend your way out of recession or borrow your way out of debt.

***Give me liberty, NOT DEBT!

***Keep your hands out of my piggy bank!

***Cut taxes, NOT DEALS!

Where were you MD? Where in WV did you move to? I grew up in WV and moved to MD to get a job. I am thinking very hard about going back.

This is funny. One thing these idiots need to take into consideration is that unlike many of us, millionares have the means to move anywhere they want.

They can play all kinds of games and still do what they want and need to do.

I suppose soon laws will make it difficult for the wealthy to leave. They’ll just have to sit there and be fleeced.

IIRC New Jersey instituted just such a tax for exactly that reason.

To clarify a point:
Conservatism seeks to conserve those lessons which were learned at great cost over long times. Such lessons may be hard to understand and easy to dismiss when finally ingrained in society, but they form the solid foundation upon which we thrive. Discard them, and society is lost.

Corollary:
There are some philosophies which can exist ONLY because of the foundation they starkly oppose. Example: high-functioning veganism is only possible upon an infrastructure of carnivorous labor.
