The tax exempt status is a way for the government to keep their thumb on churches. I would like to see it go, so churches would speak out as they should be doing.

That would open churches up for destructive taxes. Any city that wanted to close a church would just raise their property taxes or do audits.
It would close many many churches.

Unfortunately the XVI Amendment superseded the I, IV, and XIII amendment. Perhaps we should repeal the XVI instead.

Yes, it is. Don’t be surprised, though, when the government takes away the tax exempt status for all churches.
