Unemployment 20% Higher in Democrat Strongholds

Unemployment in April remained 20 percent higher in states won by Democratic candidate Barack Obama in last fall's presidential election than in states won by Republican candidate John McCain, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics released yesterday.

Nationwide, the unemployment rate went from 8.5 percent in March to 8.9 percent in April.

WND previously reported that if unemployment numbers in the states won by Obama do not begin improving soon, the Democratic Party may face the prospect of 2010 mid-term election losses in both governor races and in Congress.

A national telephone survey conducted by Rasmussen Reports has found significant Democratic Party losses and Republican Party gains over the past year in a generic congressional ballot.

Currently, the GOP and Democratic Party are vying at 40 percent to 39 percent for leadership in the Rasmussen-conducted generic congressional ballot.

Over the past year, Rasmussen has reported that Democratic support has dropped from a high of 50 percent and Republican support has risen from a low of 34 percent.

Two words = Government Jobs

Someone was quoted recently that rolling back privatization would provide 600,000 new government jobs. Not NEW jobs, government jobs. (Sorry I don’t remember who said it.)

What does the Republican Party do to educate the public about their basic principles. Nothing that I’m aware of.

The Democrat party spends BILLIONS on selling their point of view. They do it through a mechanism called Government Schools.

Not really a surprise with left wing governors, left wing legislators and left wing mediots pushing anti business liberalism 24/7/365.

We “ain’t” seen nothing as the unions in these blue states will be pushing some pretty out rageous demands.

One I can’t identify yet due to negotions and no documentation. Apparently, the union that services specific businesses statewide lost a lot of pension funds during the economic meltdown. So now they are demanding that the employers make up the losses and even fund the losses from this year and following years due to the fund being down last year and this year.

Great chart, but a clarification is needed.

According to the title, the information is from April 2009. But the source at the bottom states, "U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Unemployment Rates for States, March 2008.

Oops! Even the US Bureau of Labor Statistics couldn't come up with 2009 numbers in 2008. Please clarify. Thanks.

"U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Unemployment Rates for States, March 2008?"

I'm guessing it's just a typo...

If you check the Bureau of Labor Statistics source pages, 2009 is referenced and even updated to May 22, 2009.

Just MHO...

IF David Littman is right (former Economist for Comerica) MI will be 17 to 20% by the end o the year. Even thought it is one state, my guess id OH and IN will increase as well to really skew the numbers much higher for the Blue States.

Well I guess all those “green jobs” haven't quite
materialized yet. But the IRS is needing help due to
plans for stepped up collection compliance enforcement
under Obama’s administration. As private sector jobs
decrease, government sector jobs will increase. And
more money can always printed to pay for them. As well
as welfare and “extended” unemployment “benefits”.
You've just got to love it!

Thanks. That's what I expected, but wanted to ask just to be certain.

As I posted earlier, it's a great chart. Thanks.

Bad economic news is always good news for Democrats.

When the economy tanks and people lose their jobs, homes, and savings, they become dependent on government handouts and eventually become addicted to government handouts. And, just as drug addicts keep going back to their dealers for a fix, government addicts likewise keep going back to THEIR dealers. That would be their Democrat politicians. A tanking economy means more government addicts and therefore more votes for THEM.

Sabotaging the economy is job #1.

This ain’t rocket surgery.....

"unemployment rate"

Unless Obama start his make-work program and gets these people jobs digging holes and filling them in again, these people will still be unemployed one, two, four years from now. Because the great majority of them do not possess skills that make them employable. Like you, I'm sure many of them are expecting manna from heaven. When the manna does not fall, then what? Will they lose faith in The Grand Redistributor? I'd bet not.
