Yuck. I wonder if the Burger King veggie burger has hexane in it? I just had one for lunch.
Practically everything we eat or drink seems to be laced with chemicals, additives, solvents, pesticides, hormones, etc. Whether you are a vegetarian or meat eater you are being exposed to environmental contamination. That’s just life. Unless you raise your foodstuffs organically you don’t know what you are consuming.
If you put a match to your veggie burger and it bursts into flames, then it has too much hexane in it. ;-)
FWIW, and IMHO there is no such thing a human-digestible “all natural” soy protein. Kidney beans, pinto beans, string beans etc, sure — but not SOY beans.
A veggie burger is going to consist of processed foods. It doesn’t take as much adulteration to grind up cow or buffalo or even turkey and mold it into a patty. But veggies are quicker to go to “paste” form than “burger”.
Nope, I’m wrong. You CAN produce digestible proteins from soy beans.
My bad!
The obvious solution is to declare hexane to be "natural" (isn't everything natural?) and be done with the hysteria.
My rule-of-thumb is that the newer and more exotic the process, the more likely you don’t want to know how it’s done....

Maybe that’s why one their commercials has flames coming out of a man’s mouth after he eats one.
