Great! Increases my odds in the football ticket lottery for this season!
But seriously, what University are these people going to support now? Georgetown? Boston College? DePaul? It’s crazy to stop supporting Notre Dame because they made one decision that you disagree with, and ignore all the other positive things the University does. Is Notre Dame as conservative as the staunchest Catholics would like? No. Is it waaaaayyyyyy more conservative than any other significant university in America? Yes, it is.
No, it's not, and this decision was simply the straw that broke the camel's back.
They can support Franciscan University of Steubenville which is actually teaching the faith and not the Vagina Monologues or some other liberal tripe...
Support Ave Maria.
Depends on what you mean by “significant.”
I would instead donate to Thomas Aquinas, Christendom, University of Dallas, ... just to name a few.
This of course is in your humble opinion.
Henry VIII was more conservative than John Calvin. You think that made a difference IAC. Notre Dame PRETENDED to be far more Catholic than it is. The mask has been ripped off.
“But seriously, what University are these people going to support now?”
How about any of the 21 authentic Catholic colleges featured in the Newman Guide? (http://www.cardinalnewmansociety.org/)
They follow Ex Corde Ecclesiae.
How, exactly ?
I am a BC grad and was very pleased
(for the first time) that they stopped
the appearance of Bill Ayers. Finally
something decent.
Like what? Sending defenseless, skulls full of mush out into the world?
BTW, does anyone know if a course in logic is part of a mandatory, core curriculum? I think I already know the answer.
You wouldn't have known it based on the reaction to Fr. Jenkins' speech, obama's speech, judge Noonan's speech, and the parents, and the kids at commencement. Unless I knew better, I never would have thought I was at a Catholic college. They were virulently pro-obama and anti-protester. When the judge mentioned the evils of genocide, torture, and slavery, the first and last got polite applause while torture got a thunderous ovation. Clearly a political statement, not a reasoned, Christian one.
Withholding donations (until ND more strongly upholds its tradition) is a valid response. The donors have spoken. Now the ball is in ND's court. Do they continue liberalizing, or do they hang tough and prove they can be excellent AND Catholic at the same time.
Lay off the crack pipe.
If it were ME .. I’d give to Ave Maria Law School in FL. THAT place is Catholic.
