They Tortured For A Casus Belli?
The Atlantic ^ | 5/14/09 | Andrew Sullivan

Lawrence Wilkerson has a must-read on what he now believes is the real reason Cheney was so insistent on torturing prisoners - he needed proof of an al Qaeda-Saddam connection to justify the war he had already decided to wage. This really is the explosive charge, because it reveals the real danger of torture in the hands of big government: it means our leaders can manufacture facts to justify anything. It gives them the crucial weapon they need to, as Ron Suskind's famous source explained, "create reality"....

You know why this is absurd? The Bush administration already did have evidence of a Saddam-al Qaeda link (thanks to friendly Czech intelligence), yet never even mentioned it publicly.

The war is and has been already justified. Saddam Hussein was a sworn enemy of the United States and did operate a terror sponsoring regime that trained and financed terrorists including Al Quida. Saddam Hussein was a threat to our National Security.

This article is another example of the extreme stupidity that inflicts this nation due to the spread of liberal fascism.

I would draw Mr. Sullivan's attention to the testimony of Richard Clarke, National Counterterrorism Coordinator, media darling and witness during the 9/11 Commission hearings, when he stated that the Clinton administration had taken out the Sudanese aspirin factory because it was a front for the manufacturing of weapons by al qaeda. They missed getting the owner BECAUSE HE WAS IN BAGDHAD MEETING WITH SADDAM HUSSEIN.

You're welcome.
