No, some "conservatives" are changing. Conservatism is based upon principles that don't change. When one feels that respect for individual liberty is no longer important and must change to win elections, then one is no longer a conservative. When one feels that respect for human life is no longer important and must change to win elections, then one is no longer a conservative.
The American people don't want rubber conservatism. How can I make this assertion? Because RINOs have been losing elections year after year in state after state. The people reject them. Take California as an example. This supposedly liberal state keeps electing Democrats no matter how liberal the Republican challenger is. However, that same electorate, which we are told must be attracted by making conservatism less conservative, passed Prop. 8 last year; the same year the state went for Barack Obama over John McCain. They passed a similar ban on gay marriage 8 yeears earlier. They voted to keep illegal aliens from receiving public benefits. Whenever a RINO isn't there, getting in the way, they vote for conservative principles. What might happen if they had a real conservative candidate to vote for; one for whom "change" is a dirty word?
God bless you Jim!
Thank you very much, Redcloak!!
