House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Wednesday that her chamber would have a sweeping health care bill on the floor by the end of July, an announcement that President Barack Obama hailed.
"That's the kind of energy and determination that we need," the president said at the White House, standing on the south driveway with Pelosi and Democratic leaders of the relevant House committees.
"We are not going to rest until we have delivered," Obama said. "Our health care system is broken."
Pelosi, D-Calif., and other House Democrats had met with Obama and Vice President Joe Biden in the Oval Office just before going outside to make their announcement. No Republicans were present.
"We promised him that we will have this important legislation on the floor of the House before the August break," Pelosi announced. "Our goal is to have a healthier America."
Neither the speaker nor the president offered details of how the legislation will look, the subject of ongoing debate on Capitol Hill. The White House is remaining mostly quiet as proposals emerge for discussion among lawmakers, preferring to let Congress come up with a plan and engage more on the specifics later on.
Obama's plan to provide coverage to some 50 million uninsured Americans is the cornerstone of his promise to enact a larger overhaul of the health care system. Independent experts put the costs at about $1.5 trillion over 10 years.
But turning that vision into reality remains the biggest challenge for the president and his backers, because hard cash not just ideas is required to cover upfront costs of expanding coverage.

Our health care system is not broken.
Is anyone else getting “wellness questionnaires” from the higher ups where you work? My firm has started some sort of Wellness Committee, etc. in connection with our health care provider and wants all of us to fill out this lengthy questionnaire about our exercise, eating habits and other medical stuff.
I emailed them back that they aren’t entitled to this information, but I was curious is this wasn’t the prelude to our carriers starting to charge those of us who eat McDonald’s, drink beer, etc., more for our rates so that they can get onboard with Obamunism Health Care.
Is this health insurance going to work like the refunds we’ve had to dead people?
why would anyone answer those truthfully? Nope, no junk food. No sugar...exercise 5 days a week....sure, whatever you need to hear.
“...Obama said. “Our health care system is broken.”
No...you are! You prick-head!
This will begin the utter destruction of this country!
Can we get our Pelosi-wart removed BEFORE this passes? I could at least have something to smile about.
Our health care system is not broken.
::::::::::
It will be soon.
Ahhhh, I love the stupid Americans that “buy” into this! They are the same people complaining about and saying:
-The IRS SUCKS!
-The Post Office SUCKS!
-Taxes SUCK!
-DMV SUCKS!
-The School System SUCKS....
Yet, they think the same institution (The Government) will magically fix this? Stupid...utterly STUPID!

Paging ALL TAXPAYERS!....Paging ALL TAXPAYERS!

No, your health care system, paid for by the US taxpayer is quite fine. When are Americans going to wake up? Any health care the congress tries to force on the us taxpayer should also include members of congress.
