Democrats: CIA is out to get us By: Manu Raju May 12, 2009 06:28 PM EST

Democrats charged Tuesday that the CIA has released documents about congressional briefings on harsh interrogation techniques in order to deflect attention and blame away from itself.

“I think there is so much embarrassment in some quarters [of the CIA] that people are going to try to shift some of the responsibility to others — that’s what I think,” said Sen. Carl Levin (D-Mich.), who sat on the Senate Intelligence Committee and was briefed on interrogation techniques five times between 2006 and 2007.

Illinois Sen. Dick Durbin, the No. 2 Democrat in the Senate, said he finds it “interesting” that a document detailing congressional briefings was released just as “some of the groups that have been responsible for these interrogation techniques were taking the most criticism.”

Asked whether the CIA was seeking political cover by releasing the documents, Intelligence Committee Chairwoman Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) said: “Sure it is.”

The CIA has long been on the receiving end of harsh rebukes from Congress — on intelligence failures leading up to the war in Iraq, on secret prisons abroad and on the harsh interrogation techniques used on terrorism suspects. But with the release of records showing that it briefed members of Congress along the way, the CIA has effectively put lawmakers on the defensive.

Intelligence officials insist it wasn’t intentional and have not taken responsibility for publicly releasing the documents.

Wait a minite. Hold the phone. Haven’t we been told, repeatedly, that The Marxist Onada is a “uniter, not a divider”? Oh, I get it now. The CIA is refusing to allow itself to be thrown under the bus to suit The Messiah’s political policies. Therefore, it is being divisive.

This is hysterical. The CIA isn’t a separate party, like the Republicans Party. It is an Agency of people and probably employs more Democrats than Republicans anyway. Probably Dems who voted for Obama. Now the Democrat politicians are fighting an agency that they most likely helped staff with a lot of their own people, who...probably...they helped in getting the jobs with the CIA, as DC networking goes. I will love to see the fireworks when the CIA officials actually get some of their fellow Dems, like Pelosi, They are eating each other, it is grand.

The CIA is a typical bureaucracy, all it cares about is its own arse, just like the rest of them. check out “SHADOW WARRIORS” by Kenneth Timmerman.

...in order to deflect attention and blame away from itself.

Huh? Has anyone else ever noticed how the democrats accuse others of the very thing they're doing? They're now attacking the CIA to distract from their own part in the interrogations.

Take the rent-a-mobs for example. They rent mobs like ACORN to intimidate (and destroy if necessary) their opponents. Americans from all walks of life voluntarily get together for a tea party to protest Washington's' use of our own money to destroy our own liberties, and they accuse us of their own rent-a- mob tactics.

Anytime they accuse us of something - it should be a red flag that tells us exactly what they're up to.

If Mother Pelosi had never denied knowing about waterboarding in the first place there would not have been anything for the CIA to leak.

In other words, the CIA is being accused of what the democrats did for the 8 years of Bush’s presidency? The democrats were good at revealing secret sources and letting slip confidential information, so I’m guessing it’s all coming home to roost....karma is a bit*h.

Personally, I'd avoid convertible limousines.

If I were running for office, I'd campaign in an armored car with smiley faces painted on it, and a PA system playing "it's a small world."

We have an A-rab that drives the ice cream truck, speaks no English, and plays jingle bells and Christmas tunes in the dead of summer.

We always wave and wish him a Merry Christmas as he drives by.

It is probably a safe bet that those democrats screaming the loudest have the most to hide from the american people and are afraid of what the CIA could ‘leak’ about them!

Bush wasn’t as special as you might think. There is plenty the CIA had a righteous reason to be angry at him for.
Scooter Libby was the architect of the mideast doctrine which they said was a plan to democratize the mideast, but it was really kissing up to the Saudis, UAE, (Dubai in particular;) installing Hamid Karzai in Afghanistan and allowing the opium trade to flourish with record crops; eliminating Iran as the main drug hub and recognizing Kosovo, a Muslim controlled drug hub, as an independent Muslim country; and trying to force the EU to accept Turkey, a Muslim country, into the EU.
Under Bush, South America began a dash into Socialism, Chavez came to power, welcomed Hamas and Hisbullah into its embrace, and nationalized its oil with nary a squeak from the Bush administration. Venezula is the new Columbia of the drug trade.
And Mexico...well, there isn’t enough time or room to open that package. Two words though...Johnny Sutton.
Most of Bush’s grief on the left came from inside the State Department.
Don’t discount his daddy, and don’t discount his ties to Bill Clinton. Dubai has made out like a bandit, buying up our space technology and the installations that maintain and repair our planes.
Iraq is/was a proxy war to diminish Iran’s influence in the region and strengthen the Saudis’.
Saddam Hussein was loyal to the Hashemite King of Jordan. The Saudis didn’t like that much. So we have pretty much left Abdullah blowing in the wind.
There is way more to the story than you can imagine. SO much more.

Sounds like they are aware of the "pack of dogs & rock principle" overtly attempting to thwart it.

Now the Democrats are taking on the CIA? Grab the popcorn, folks. This would be humorous if what the Dems are doing to sabotage our intelligence operatives wasn’t so serious.

The politicians would do well to recall how the organization of former intelligence officers paid back Senator Frank Church and his ilk in the senate and house. The politicians were guilty of excesses then, as they are now. Guaranteed, the payback will be defeats for democrats.

The CIA is our friend. The CIA provides the intel to keep Americans safe and they don’t seek recognition in doing it. Right now they are under fire from the socialists in power and need someone watching their back. I pray that we can hold out until the next election and put in representatives who have the interest of our country in mind and not a political agenda to subvert our established agencies.

I find this quite interesting...

President Bush made the mistake of not “cleaning house” in the management of the CIA when he took office, and consequently, it seems as if the CIA worked hard to block the policies he tried to put in place.

Now that they have who they want in power, I find it amusing that the same government drones are now afraid of the dems in power, since the dems want the CIA investigated.

If it weren’t for the fact that this will be a major problem for national security, I’d say, “Enjoy the show!”

but it is, and there’s a good chance that this politicization of intelligence and policy will get people killed.

Mark
