Luke 19: 1Jesus entered Jericho and was passing through. 2A man was there by the name of Zacchaeus; he was a chief tax collector and was wealthy. 3He wanted to see who Jesus was, but being a short man he could not, because of the crowd. 4So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig tree to see him, since Jesus was coming that way.
5When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said to him, "Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today." 6So he came down at once and welcomed him gladly.
7All the people saw this and began to mutter, "He has gone to be the guest of a 'sinner.' "
8But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, "Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount."
9Jesus said to him, "Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham. 10For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost."

I pray they do tithe because it’s Biblical. Most churches would thrive if their people tithed. I’m sure inner city parishes reach out to their area poor. Catholic charities has always been active. I hope they go on short-term missions trips to foreign countries. There’s a real need for it.It’s just not very evident around us. We’re not inner city folks. (For which I’m grateful.) Mother Theresa was a wonderful example of what one person can do and I pray there are many more like her.
Ive known a lot of Elim (Lima NY) faithful who left that cult because of the wife-swapping and brainwashing to recruit anti-Catholic internet zombies...not to mention the brainwashing to pursue petty larceny.-pete the liar
You never got the right ELIM. - marysecretary

Thank God (for your sake) that you're not talking about me, because if you were, that claim I quoted above would be another of your lies -pete, again the proven liar
She was referring to someone named pete.
My name is not pete.
Furthermore, I never “googled Elim scandal and came up with a group in New Zealand or Australia called Elim Temple Bible Institute.”
Just a coinkydink, huh pete? I think NOT! You sure are quick to make false charges with no facts! You're even quicker with the rest of your lies...
I wish I had a dollar for every despicable thing you've said about the Catholic Church.
My name is not son...
I’m just following your detestable example, boy.
I do use caustic terms tograb attention. It works. It gets attention. But, if god has given the Holy Spirit as He promised, the Word will not go out empty.
I am not ashamed of my faith in Jesus Christ. He has rescued me froma life of sin. He has promised me eternal life.
Pete, He makes that promise to each and every ONE of us, not to a corporation, named the Roman Catholic church, nor to a city named the Vatican!
John 3: 16"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son. 19This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. 21But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God."
Because they are absolutely obsessed with Catholics. As an example, there is another thread floating around about Calvin, which had absolutely nothing to do with Catholics. But one of the more noisome anti's came on board and starting ranting about the Inquisition and such. They are nutters. I'm just happy I don't have to wake up next to one of these whack-jobs.
WHAT? The ROMAN Catholic Church? Why, they must be mistaken...
I'm sure you don't like the Inquisition mentioned. It is one of the blackest marks in all Christendom. Your Pope's determination to rid the world of his enemies , "alleged heretics", was a historical fact. Sorry, but it deserves the light, when it exposes the politics and gamesmanship by the Pope's of the Roman Catholic religion.
As a lovingly called "nutter whack-job", I, too, post about Roman errors. Paul addressed most of my arguments against the authority of your group. I will agree with Paul over Rome, when it comes to spiritual answers. He knew God, and Peter was no god!...
Romans 8:22We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. 23Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies. 24For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what he already has? 25But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.
26In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. 27And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God's will.
28And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him,[j] who[k] have been called according to his purpose. 29For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. 30And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.
31What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us allhow will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? 33Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. 34Who is he that condemns? Christ Jesus, who diedmore than that, who was raised to lifeis at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. 35Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 36As it is written:
"For your sake we face death all day long;
we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered."[l]
37No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[m] neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
He has a very poor memory, doesn’t he? What a liar.
Feel the love yet, Kayaker? They talk about US being nutters and whack jobs. Pot, meet kettle.
As you egg these exhanges on, what do you expect? Are you just playing at a game, perhaps needing that last word rush? Mercy!
Oh, yeah, right.
pete's lies are now about knee deep on this thread. I mined history to provide an accurate record of his vitriolic attacks on Christians at Elim.
He has no truth, so he manufactures facts, then denies he was the source of the inaccuracy. Then, he denies he denied it. Nice work, if you are believed. But the posts reflect the truth.
He then rants about others lying... ROFLMAO!
He keeps posting this Ten Commandment thing when I have posted Scripture revealing the power of the Cross. He claims that Paul said black is white (metaphorically).
Romans 3: 21But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. 22This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, 23for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. 25God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement,[i] through faith in his blood. He did this to demonstrate his justice, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished 26he did it to demonstrate his justice at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.
There’s just no convincing them of the truth of scripture. They have their set ways, their indoctrinations, and they can’t move away from it. Sad for them, actually.
