Because of President Obama's appearance and speech at Notre Dame this Sunday, some seniors will not attend their own graduation ceremony and instead join a University prayer service on the grounds at Notre Dame. No indication yet as to how many seniors will forgo the graduation ceremony.
The student group behind this effort, ND Response, has made this wild hollywood style video showcasing their displeasure with Notre Dame and the President. I must say the production value is extremely high and I feel like I'm watching a trailor for some sort of hollywood blockbuster movie.
Watch it here.

Read below as to what will be taking place this Sunday at Notre Dame:
The meditation, which will be led by Rev. Frank Pavone, national director of Priests for Life, is part of a two-day rally that has been officially sanctioned by the university.
The evening of May 16, bishop of the Fort Wayne- South Bend diocese, Rev. John D'Arcy, will lead a candlelight prayer vigil for graduating seniors and their families to pray for an end to abortion and embryo research.
On May 17, Commencement Day, in addition to the meditation ceremony, a large rally will be held on the South Quad of the university, the campus' main quad, between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Speakers at the rally will include Elizabeth Naquin Border, Notre Dame graduate and former chairman of the board for the Women's Care Centers in South Bend; Rev. Joseph Raphael, Notre Dame graduate and principal of St. Augustine's High School in New Orleans; William Solomon, director of the university's Center for Ethics and Culture; and Chris Godfrey, a Notre Dame law school graduate and former offensive guard for the Super Bowl XXI champion New York Giants.
You know, the Obama faith team worked really hard during the campaign to court Catholic voters and it paid off because Obama won the Catholic vote. It made a difference in swing states like Pennsylvania and others. All along the Obama team knew they had a challenge on the abortion issue but was able to break through because of how candidate Obama lined up with Catholics on other issues like torture, healthcare, climate change, human rights, etc.
Since becoming President, Mr. Obama has made policy that has left himself open to criticism by pro-life Catholics (conscience clause, mexico city, embryonic stem cell research). When the President faces re-election in 2012, the faith team will have an even tougher challenge because with evidence in hand, pro-life Catholics will now mount a full scale offensive against the President. Moderate Catholic groups are armed for battle too. Will this be a Catholic armageddon of sorts?
By the way, just because some students at Notre Dame take issue with what will happen Sunday, let me provide a little balance here.

23 student groups support the move by Notre Dame.

and did you know that the Notre Dame valedictorian is an Obama supporter?

Finally a chance to take out and use those Confirmation graces.
The ones with integrity...
:)
OK...fair enough. So force the Dean to announce from the podium that nobody is allowed to leave the auditorium/stadium and,in fact, nobody is allowed to rise from their seats.Such an announcement, alone, should cause a bit of a stir!
Students at Yale did that when Bush gave the commencement address. The press treated it as “thoughtful students peacefully expressing their principals”
They aren't going to shoot someone for walking out. They wouldn't even shoot someone for standing and heckling during Obama’s speech, although they would probably bum rush them out the door. If they did shoot an unarmed person for doing either one of those things, there would be hell to pay, and a public relations nightmare for the Obama administration, for Notra Dame University, and the Democrat party.
Jumpy secret service. I was just being a little over the top with sarcasm.
The best idea I’ve seen so far is for everyone not planning showing up to not tell the administration.
If they don't attend, Obama supporters will take their seats, and it will appear that the crowd wants him.
Yes,lots of empty seats would be excellent. But then you deny graduates and their families the joy of the day.I say....as Hussein approaches the podium people stand up and turn their backs...in complete silence.
Somehow, I hope this speech will be televised. That way, we could watch what happens rather than wait for some “reporter” to give us his/her opinion.
I hope none of the seniors show up.
There is no way that I would miss my college graduation because I disagreed with the choice of speaker. Those of you who have graduated university should be able to attest to that once in a lifetime feeling of accomplishment that you feel at the ceremony surrounded by fellow grads and family. There are other ways to voice your displeasure with president Obama.
May the Holy Ghost be with them! It is reassuring that there is still a Genuine Catholic base among the young people. I guess not all the teachers have lost their way, obviously. I will be praying for every student who stays away. It is what should be done in the face of this propagation of evil.

That's because it's all about you and your silly sentiments, rather then living life according to what's right by God and your fellow man.
IOW, your happy feelings are more important than the persecution of the pre-born and standing up to a leftist goon high priest of of Murder Inc.
I think the graduates should attend the ceremony. During the speech, stand up and turn their backs to zero. Also, put letters on their mortarboards that spell out C-H-O-O-S-E <> L-I-F-E or some other appropriate message.

If you are the “fellow man” you are referring to save it as I’ll use MY judgment so save your lectures for someone who cowers.
Not me. It's just graduation, for pete's sake. I had a very nice graduation (from a prestigious university, with family and friends), and forgot it all about 24 hours after.
I fact, I remember the graduate "graduation" far more vividly: I went to the registrar's office, where a secretary pulled the diploma from a metal filing cabinet. Congratulations, she said. Thanks, I replied.
Graduates need to get over themselves.
Right. It isn’t like they’re facing hungry lions. However, it is not for everyone. I don’t blame a person who doesn’t want to remember their college graduation as a moment when they got hissed, booed, scowled and screamed at.
But it would be a good thing to endure for the cause. Beats a saline burn or getting chopped to pieces like an unwanted infant.
“Today several hundred Notre Dame students stood up and disgracefully walked silently out of the 2009 graduation ceremony as the President was about to honored with an honorary degree...the Secret Service has already determined that the majority of the students have participated in extreme right wing activism (’tea bagging’ on April 15th to complain about not wanting to pay their fair share of taxes) and that one of their main complaints is that a black man is now in the White House. The remainder of the ceremony however was untainted by racism and proceeded smoothly, and even somewhat sentimentally, as the President had a tear in his eye when he was dressed in the accoutrements befitting someone receiving their doctorate degree.
As you all know, the President was unable to achieve his doctorate due to his lower class status back in the day, plus he was extremely busy being a role model community organizer and ACORN lawyer back then. He has said this honory degree being bestowed upon him by the good folks at Notre Dame has fulfilled one of his biggest dreams—to be a doctor like his role model, Dr. Martin Luther King! Well, now, *DOCTOR* Barack Obama can stand side by side, albeit figuratively, with this wonderful Black civil rights leader! [sound of a slight sob and sniffle from the reporter]
The President looks even more handsome and charming than usual, and his proud swagga as he moved across the stage to the podium showed his pleasure at this wonderful event! [*heavy swoony sigh*]...I’ll hand it back to you in the studio, Wolf, right now I’m feeling a bit emotional myself!”
-Susan Rosegen, pulled from ‘vacation’ to report on this “wonderful event”.
“Thank you, Susan, for that brilliant and unbiased report of just the facts, for those of you who believe we are ‘in the tank’ for the President.” [makes ‘pshaw’ sound] “Next, after the commercial break, CNN will carry in its entirety, the President’s Notre Dame Commencement Speech, sure to be a classic, entitled, ‘Ask Not What Planned Parenthood Can Do For YOU, But What Can YOU Do For Planned Parenthood?”! Yes, obviously the President will be honoring that great organization by referencing another one of his role models, former President John F. Kennedy! We can hardly wait here in the studio, and I see that Susan is in place to get an eyewitness view to history being made—I envy her!!”
[cut to view of glassy eyed, slackjawed Susan drooling and gazing adoringly at the President having the multiple TOTUSes surrounding the podium adjusted to perfection while outside the stadium *with covered up Jesus* several hundred silently protesting students are being arrested for protesting on the grounds without the proper permit]
