Sitting on porch maybe, with parents temporarily gone and teacher making some official sounding excuse. Why parents didn’t afterward insist on the teacher’s head for doing this, however, would be a mystery.

Good point.
What about this administration? I have heard of school systems that advise against being alone in a room with a student of the opposite sex without an adult witness.
