Geez. I’m a scientist, a conservative, and an unapologetic Christian. I guess that makes me less real than a unicorn :). At least you can see unicorns on TV and in the movies. But you don’t see many guys like me on TV and in the movies, even though there are quite a few of us.

Science is a method for figuring things out. Not a sacrament. It’s not something you “believe in.” It’s something you use when it is useful and discard when it is not.

The greens (and Chrissy Matthews) actually turn science on its head. They do not see science as a way to actually learn true things about God’s creation (or, in their case, about Gaia). They see it as a way to establish “proof” for and then to advance certain convenient “facts” in the political arena. The “method” part of science is really irrelevant to them because they are not interested in falsifying any of their “facts.”

If they spent more time actually developing falsifiable hypotheses and then subjecting their hypotheses to actual tests against the real world, then they would be acting as scientists.

Having a PhD doesn’t make you a scientist. Using the scientific method to investigate propositions does.

And listen to Chrissy’s argument in the segment. None of it has anything to do with science or with falsifying hypotheses. It’s entirely devoted to the politics of using science for a political end.

1) I know scientists who are conservative and Christian. They see no contradiction (nor, in my opinion, should they) in their belief and their discipline.

2) While the rank and file enviro-drones may find solace in the false science, the ones with power know it’s about moving the socialist/communist movement forward. It’s no coincidence that Gorby became a “Watermelon” (Green on the outside; red on the inside) after the wall came down. Hence, they have no interest in adhering to real scientific protocol.
