You get “past it” as you say, by faith. It's hard to play catch-up after you've led an uninstructed life, but it can be done. Prayer, bible study, courses from qualified spiritual counselors and more prayer will lead you to your church home. When you get there, don't depend on everyone in that church to be “perfect,” they won't be. Pray and tend to yourself so you can keep your faith in Christ Jesus intact.

Try the RCIA in your area. I think you'll find a great deal of support and good counsel.

In Canada, Christian priests and ministers have been taken into those hate crime kangaroo courts and fined for preaching on the subject of homosexuality.

It could happen here. There has always been a distinction between religious weddings and civil weddings, but a lot of old traditions are being discarded, along with the Constitution, so who knows?

Mitt Romney told Justices of the Peace in Massachusetts that they would be fired unless they agreed to perform gay marriages. Priests, ministers, and rabbis could be next.

Elaborated thoughts. Mr. Obama is not a man who will make his convictions public. Therefore, he may be judged by the company he keeps and his nutured heritage. This in my humble opinion is a combo of Rev. Wright, Kenyan socialism together with a dash of reverance for Islam. Who is Obama’s god and the true nature of that relationship remains his guarded secret.
