If you want there to be. lol
I chew up and swallow a piece of Osha root. No relation to the Fedgov agency it's an Indian name meaning "Bear Medicine." The botanical name is Ligusticum porteri. If you used a fresh plant tincture there would be alcohol involved but with only 30-60 drops for a dose it wouldn't be much of a thrill.
I didn't mention it before because it would probably be difficult to locate some. An herb store or natural foods store might have it. I have found that using it at the very first signs of infection wipes the infection out. I think the oils in it coat the mucous membranes making it difficult for the virus to replicate.
Another plant root from the same family was used by naturopaths in the Pacific Northwest and Utah and Nevada during the 1918 flu epidemic and the death rates in that region were significantly lower. Lomatium dissectum. It has been shown that fractions of the volatile oils in Lomatium are excreted in the lungs through the bloodstream from ingesting it.
I have a hunch the same thing happens with Osha since its volatile oils seem to be a major part of its activity in other respects. Both would still be good for treatment if the infection does take hold. Osha in particular has anesthetic and cooling properties.
From personal experience my intuition is that there is a window of opportunity in the first few hours to prevent an infection from taking hold. After that the best you can do is fight it with all you've got and reduce the severity and longevity of the battle. There are a lot of herbs that could be added to those two if it comes to that. The regimen would change as the nature of the illness progressed. One regimen for initial stages, one for the acute stage, another once you've gotten over the hump and still another for general metabolic cleanup and recovery when the infection is over and you're left feeling like a wrung out dish rag.
To be honest I wouldn't touch alcohol for at least two weeks after feeling normal again. It takes a lot of metabolic energy to process it.

Hi, pandy. I thought you might like to read this.
Thanks. I find this very interesting stuff. I know that natural remedies have worked better for me in the long run then what the doctors gave me for my hep c. That cr@p d@mn near killed me. I am stocking up on herbs & making liq silver & taking my raw honey. I learned from my Baba about herbs & ways to treat things from an early age. I have to find my note book as I think you would find it interesting. I just dread the attic & the spiders!
Thanks for the info.
