Specter: GOP moved 'far to the right' By: Mike Allen May 3, 2009 09:55 AM EST

Sen. Arlen Specter (D-Pa.) said Sunday in his first TV interview since becoming a Democrat last week he had not promised to be “a loyal Democrat” and would lead a filibuster against his new party if he felt strongly enough about an issue.

Specter told David Gregory on NBC’s “Meet the Press” that he had determined “with polls and a lot of personal contact” that his reelection prospects as a Republican were “bleak.”

But he added: “There’s more than being reelected here. There’s the factor of principle. The Republican Party has gone far to the right since I joined it under Reagan’s big tent. … In recent times, I have diverged materially from the Republican line … As the picture has evolved, I felt a lot more comfortable – as a matter of principle – with Democrats than Republicans.”

Specter heatedly denied a Wall Street Journal report that he had told the White House that he would be “a loyal Democrat.”

““I have shown, repeatedly, my independence — willing to cross party lines — when I thought the interests of the American people and Pennsylvania required it,” Specter said. “If I see that there are other issues where I feel as a matter of conscience, I will continue a filibuster against legislation.”

Memo to Arlen: It wasn’t the party that moved to the right, it was you who moved to the left, you dumbass!”

Yup.
Pretty much sums it up.

I was kind of hoping you wouldn’t bring that up (One of the Reasons the Roman Empire collapsed). There are a lot of of other scary similarities. Moral decay. Corruption. Over extension of Army in distant lands. I could go on, but it is depressing.

What a lying sack of RINO droppings.

"The Republican Party has gone far to the right since I joined it under Reagan’s big tent."

More blatant lies. The Reagan-era GOP makes the current big-spending "compassionate" fools look like commies by comparison.

John “F’n” Kerry has already question your mental state, Arlen, by pointing out that Jim Jeffords jump right after Bush took office, unlike waiting 8 years like you have done.

Arlen, this is going to end up ugly for you, and I am going to laugh when the end comes...

As we entered the 20th Century, European powers dominated most of the world. As we moved through WW I and WW II, the United state became the preeminent power bot financially and militarily briefly challenged by a bankrupt Soviet Union. Now in the early years of the 21st Century we are facing huge deficits, a dwindling revenue base and a foreign policy that allows small despots to kick sand in our face. Meanwhile, China essentially holds the keys to our financial system while they pour money into their economy and modernizing their huge military. They are not limited by political special interests and whacko environmentalists. Napolean once said “China is the sleeping giant and when she awakes, the world will tremble”. I believe she has awaken and we may well see in the 21st Century, China emerging as the pre-eminent power in the world.

Of course, he didn’t mind GOP voters going far to the right, just as long as they kept re-electing him.

Douchebag.

Arlen, besides being the traitorous sack of shit to the republican party, you are also a traitor to all the folks who voted for you in Pennsylvania! Hope both Spector and Mirtha will lose in Pennsylvania in the next election cycle. Both of them deserve to lose and lose big! So does Dodd in Connecticut! American voters, it’s time to raise up against all these assholes!

Ronald Reagan once said; "I didn't leave the Democrat Party, it left me." For far too many of us the same has been true of the Republican's similar shift to the left. Specter's leaving is only an indication of a potential shift BACK to the right.

What a load of bull. The GOP is comprised of a significant number of RINOs just like Sphincter. It’s why the last election was lost and Washington spent like sailors under Bush.

Specter: GOP moved 'far to the right'

Actually, Specter moved left and so did the GOP. The GOP is today what the DemonRAT party was a decade ago. The DemonRAT party is now what the socialist party is, and the socialists have moved to communism. Everybody moved left and they all moved away from Conservatives because Conservatives did not move. Specter has confused the RINOS in the GOP with Conservatives. They're just as bad as he is. I wish the rest of them would go too. All I would say is good riddance to all of them! We never could depend on them when it came to conservative issues.

"After my most recent study of Scottish law, I have determined that the Republican Party has moved too much to the right, thereby forcing me to become a Democrat! This is not good for America, and the bleakness that those polls are showing me reinforces this.

"If America will not willingly submit to the perpetual snow jobs, rife graft and corruption, and systematic dismantling of the Constitutional state that we in the NEW Democratic party have so magnanimously offered the Little People, then I will do as I must, and continue voting with my Democratic colleagues on the important issues of the day, as well as look for more - ever more! - magic bullets!

"And as for President-For-Life Obama, I can only say...pay no heed to that man behind the curtain!!!"

------------------------------------------

Hey, listen guys! This is one of the greatest things (his switching parties, or going home to his soul mates - your choice) that has happened to not just the Republican party, but Conservatives in general, as well as the nation as a whole in the past 20 or 30 years!

And as for that blarney about things changing since "Reagan's Big Tent" - give me a break! Yes, Ronnie did coin the 11th Commandment, but I submit he did so before the emergence of cretins like this in his midst.

I once again implore you - we must rid the Republican party of this mindless chaff, or they will rid the Republican Party of America's patriots.

This is a real good first step, but it must be viewed in context - it's just a first step!!! May we find the strength and courage to continue working towards the higher ends that we and this country so desperately need!

CA...
