MEXICO CITY/GENEVA, April 30 (Reuters) - Mexico's president told citizens to stay home from Friday for a five-day partial shutdown of the economy, after the World Health Organisation raised its alert level and said a swine flu pandemic was imminent.
In his first televised address since the crisis erupted last week, President Felipe Calderon told Mexicans to stay home with their families. The country will suspend non-essential work and services, including some government ministries, from May 1-5.
"There is no safer place than your own home to avoid being infected with the flu virus," Calderon said.

Just want to know who we can rightly blame for this if it goes really bad. No one person, group, or government can be blamed. Hypothetically one could reason that Mexico is seeing more cases because the predominant religion still shares a communal cup. Occams razor can offend many with its simplicity. Behavior drives the rate of infection. The Dallas Diocese has posted this:
Sunday Obligation: The Obligation to attend Mass on Sunday other Holy Days of Obligation, (Canon 1247) is the ordinary expectation of Catholics. Obviously, extraordinary circumstances such as sickness, travel, or bad weather excuse the faithful from this obligation. If you are not feeling well, especially during this time of concern, please stay at home and do not risk spreading infection to others. Please stay at home and do not attend Mass.

I believe the writer is saying that nonpublic data would support phase 6, but phase 6 has not been declared.
Could be, but hasn’t.

That is a ridiculous conclusion and defies logic. One horse out of the barn is different than 100 horses out of the barn. We have thousands of horses out of the barn in Texas. I was just about to post the same rebuttal but you beat me to it.
How on earth anybody could think that more carriers doesn't increase our risk, is beyond me.

It usually takes a terrorist attack (9-11) or a direct foreign military strike (Pearl Harbor) on the United States, because of our national characteristic which is an open culture and inability to read the signs, before we “wake up”. I am sorry but it will probably come to that under Obama, so many people in the USA are opiated on him and living in a separate universe as far as I am concerned. Oh how I do hope Americans en-masse wake up soon, under Obama, before those would occur.

You think the whole world is collaborating with Obama in order to see socialized medicine in America? Not likely. Body count, please.... WHO drops rate from 157 to 6. Its all B.S. Please stop believing this is anything other than a normal flu. Look at Drudge right now. Scientists say this is a MILD form of flu.

How on earth anybody could think that more carriers doesn't increase our risk, is beyond me. Risk of what? Getting sick for a week. This happens every day of every year. People catch stuff. This GLOBAL mobilization is a joke. There ARE NO SICK PEOPLE TO SPEAK OF. All panic and no reason to panic.

MANY Japanese tonight on the subway were wearing such masks. It is unprecedented for late April or early May. A nearby shop (I spoke to the salesgirl within the last four hours) told me they sold out, she sold 50 in one hour, so about one a minute. I think the media here in Japan is being a lot more realistic and getting people ready, than what Americans are being told by their brain dead, happy talking, empty suit, shallow MSM talking down to dumbed down people (so they treat us).
But it is no secret, lots of this news is right here on on the Internet, in Japanese. You dont have to dig very deep to find it. US Government officials, Obama, Biden, etc. cannot keep a lid on this much longer. However, Biden's comments just a few hours ago would confirm what your CDC contact is intimating about this bugger of a virus. I found his big, oafish mouth this morning to be very instructive.

Which US Congressman, or Senator, probably Republican, is TAKING THIS UP WITH NAPOLITANO directly, or otherwise taking to the well of the Congress in extension of remarks or working the press gallery and calling the Administration on these things we are all figuring out and uncovering here on FR?? There must be a few courageous and patriotic American men and women, even if just five of them, out of 535 in D.C. Anybody know?

No, you are trying to use that data as proof this is all a made up emergency to grab power.Where in the world did I do anything like that? All I did was answer somebody's question about why there were less statistical deaths than were reported earlier. I am highly offended by your answer. Please read before you rant.

Anyone on this forum ever been to Mexico? Ever caught Montezuma's Revenge? Flu-like, no? Mexico is not a healthy place, especially for Americans and Europeans who don't have as robust a digestive tract. People get sick every day in Mexico and across the globe. The problem here is that bio companies are making a FORTUNE on this "crisis." While the people panic and government grabs more control of the private sector.
Some day Pelosi and Co. will decide that it would be better to kill 90 % of the world's population than to allow them the indignity to "suffer" the pains and tribulations of normal life.

And the Mexican Government would precisely encourage their mass overruning of our borders, as they will not have the infrastructure to handle them, nor the will to hold them back, and they could not give a sh*t about OUR country. The more medical treatment and such related costs pushed off on the American taxpayer, the better for them. They have proven time and again their own narrow interests. I would not be surprised if Mexican Consulates in the USA develop hotlines in Spanish for illegals specifically to call, and they would be counseled as to a) which US hospitals to go to; and b) as an illegal, what their "American rights" are and how they could skillfully get in the door. You heard it hear first. Watch these buzzards. Watch them CLOSE! I bet they are doing this as we speak, from LA to San Diego, to San Francisco, to Phoenix and Tucson, to Albuquerue and El Paso, Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, you name it--particularly if it gets worse.

Risk of what? The severity of risk is immaterial. AH posted guidelines to follow in dealing with this current risk. But AH also said no need to close the borders. AH presupposed a risk existed before he posted.
Get it?
There is a risk. Whether it's mild or severe is not the point.
And we definitely need to close the borders as well as deport all (it is legal to deport).

If this were to happen and America is overrun with Mexicans. In about a month, the Mexicans and everyone else will be over the flu and then, can we convince them that it is Mexico's best interests to have the United States invade and conquer Mexico and add them to the growing list of socialist states thus solidifying Marxist ideology and governance in the Western Hemisphere?
it would be better for us in the minority if DHS would close the border.

This is one of ten major entry points from Mexico. This goes on 27/7, 365 days a year.
And the government won't shut this down?
Those in government refusing to secure our borders should be immediately arrested and prosecuted. Fill the jury with the infected.
