I’ts got to be a hell of an advantage to be able to lob anything down at them....sewage, boiling water, bricks...
It could be like “whack the mole”. Why not let the passengers pick anything they want to throw. You know, make it a ship activity— just part of the cruise. At least the cruise would be more exciting. How mant pirates did you whack on your cruise?
