She's never run for election at all, a complete novice. That's why the dig at Palin was gratuitous. She performed just fine in an actual, televised, national debate in a Presidential election.

I've never noticed any particular difficulty Sarah Palin has, with speaking her mind. She was painted into a corner by limitations in a supporting role for John McCain, and it showed with the Couric interview.
