I actually did something similar when I was a bit younger than that kid...it's "seared in my mind" and I don't do no 'lectrical stuff anymore..........I crawled under the TV table with one of Mom's bobby pins and plugged it in to the socket.
A buzzing strong tickle/tingle is what I recall...
