What an idiotic law. Why, pray tell?

Because it's endemic throughout our entire system at all levels of government that we've forgotten about the idea of 'Limited Government' and we've allowed public servants to think of themselves as public masters. It's time to push the reset button...I wonder if Hillary has a spare?

Some people insist on hanging vast quantities of crap from their mirrors. The general idea is to avoid having drivers with a major blockage of their forward vision.

He's got bigger problems, such as the steering wheel being on the wrong side of the car. LOL.

If that dangler happens to make a political statement that the cop doesn’t agree with, especially now that DHS has branded all of us as subversives, a tea bag would be a perfect excuse.

That's reason enough for me. If exercising my liberties gets me on the enemy's "terrorist extremist watch list", then by all means, sign me up. One rearview-mirror tea bag coming right up!

It's a political war. If they want to skirmish in traffic court, I'll be there. Toe the line, and let's get it on!

Whether or not it is a "material" obstruction would be an objective standard. If it hangs in such a way that it would interfere with your ability to see other vehicles or pedestrians on the road, then that would be a material obstruction. If it merely blocked your view of the moon, then that would not be a "material" obstruction since your view of the moon is not necessary to your ability to safely drive your vehicle.

I would dare say that a tea bag hanging from your mirror would under no circumstances be a "material obstruction" so as to "constitute a safety hazard."

I would love to take one of these tickets to trial.

I lived in PA, moved to VA...darn, I am stuck with that law. And, I have heard of people being fined. We can't even keep our handicapped sign up while driving. We have to only put it up to park. The powers that be say that anything hanging is a distraction. Might be so.

I am sure there are bumper stickers out there we can use. Soon I hope someone comes up with a teabag pin we can all wear(like the ribbon pins, flag pins, etc.) I'd be happy to design one if any FReeper knows how we can get it manufactured. Jim, can you help? This would be a great FR project!!!

Also...for women...we can tie teabags to the handles on the outside of our purses.

That depends. If it is a Caucasian pirate, then that is fine and actually welcomed and encouraged by the Democrats because they are all for hanging "scary armed white guys". If its a heavily armed Somali pirate with RPG's, heavy machine guns and stolen ships full of Main Battle Tanks - then you are automatically a racist. No good reason why. You just are. To the Democrats any situation in life and the reaction to it is predicated by the skin color of all involved. Their primary focus is skin color and how to reverse discriminate accordingly.
