I am inclined to believe this.

Texans do not want to secede now. The support is building for it and just like the independence movement in Quebec and statehood push in Puerto Rico, it will continue to gain momentum as the federal gov’t keep usurping state’s rights.

25/75 is probably right, FOR NOW. Texans still are Americans first.

With oBOWma now talking up this UN gun grab on top of all his other insane leftist, backdoor reparations, conservatives are the terrorists, socialism going forward without regard to majority of Americans preferences, these numbers can change signicantly. One ignitor would be the GOV trying to use the military or his brownshirts against the citizens, FOR ANY REASON.

They may not yet be ready to seriously consider secession at this time, but its a safe bet that the numbers favoring it will be rising as federal power inexorably expands. And this issue has now entered the national diaglogue. Just wait until taxpayers across the land are asked to foot the bill to pay for other insolvent states (e.g., California, New York, Massachusetts, etc.). At that point, there's going to be widespread discussion of secession.

I got a question: I was born in New York because my Austin-born-and-raised fighter pilot dad was flying fighters for the US, with my Brady-born-and-raised mom covering the home front. If I can score a Certificate of Birth Abroad from the Republic of Texas State Department, can I run for president of Texas? Based on the McCain logic, I like my chances.

I agree. I live in Texas and there is no ground swell to secede, we are American first and then Texan, but then given provocation by the federal government and the right leadership in the state there could be a push for it, but not now.
