I would also say that the institution of marriage also rewards society in its proper context.
These people who are trying to push same sex marriage don't understand that at all. They are undermining the institution as well as society. Then again maybe that's their purpose.
It is NOT that they don’t understand that they are destroying the foundation of human civilization. That is their stated purpose.
