We read in this morning's paper that militant "Islamic" terrorists from Somalia are now threatening to "massacre" American sailors because Navy SEALs rescued an American from terrorist kidnappers. The countries to which merchantmen sail, in defiance of plain common sense, still refuse to allow armed vessels to dock in their ports. A possible answer would be for the merchant ships to mount detachable "combat modules" that could be lowered into international waters while the ship docked with its cargo. ...In the meantime, though, we would like to remind sailors of a very simple way to kill pirates without using anything that could be legally defined as a "weapon." Just drop something heavy onto their speedboat or skiff when they attempt to board.
The above practice dates back to the age of sail, when not only pirates but legitimate combatants would attempt to capture ships by rowing alongside in small boats and then climbing aboard. Sailors and marine guards therefore kept a few cannonballs (probably 18 to 32 pounds) handy to drop into the boarders' boat. A heavy iron ball would, when dropped from the ship's upper deck, go right through the rowboat and sink it. We are not sure what a similar technique would do to a skiff with a plastic bottom, and perhaps some tests should be conducted to determine the impact necessary to split one open or make a hole in it.
...We encourage merchant fleets to experiment with these techniques in advance to make sure they will work. (That is, an encounter with pirates is not the first time they should be tried. As an example, the crew should experiment on empty skiffs similar to those used by pirates to see what will work.)

Even discussing these options is giving in to the politically correct premise that defending yourself with guns against pirates that are shooting at you with firearms and rockets is wrong!!!
Once you do that, they (our insane idealogical opposites), are well on their way to winning the moral and political battle.

I dont know why they arent putting out decoy ships to attract those skinnies and when they come in just hose them good and sink them...There should be no radio calls or news made of it. Just the simple thinning of the population.
The capture of that mother ship was a good start. You just know that the powers over in that area know which of those ships are the mother ships, they have been tracking them with satellite for a long time now. Why are those ships not allowed to go out 300 miles then blown out of the water before they can make a radio call? Our aircraft can drop laser guided bombs into their control rooms from 3 miles up. No one would ever see the airplane that did it. There are too may options and too much politically correct BS going on in that region.

Great ideas guys, I like the enthusiasm. I wonder why we don’t institute the convoy system for travel through the Gulf of Aden and the East coast of Somalia. If so many naval vessels are there already, wouldn’t it make sense to have them escort a large group together and destroy any pirates that try to take a merchantman?
I really am wondering... it seems like I haven’t seen that mentioned yet.

I was thinking 40mm automatic grenade launcher. I got to fire one with HE rounds, it may not be more effective than the 50 BMG but it is more impressive. It is also very compact for storage when in port.
We ain’t being PC. We are superior and just trying to be creative in how we dispatch these skinny little muzzi’s.
