Just got back from the Pittsburgh tea party. It was awesome. Still going on but I had to get back to work. Even though it was drizzling rain there was still a huge turnout. We had some protestors that were shouted down a couple times, but no violence or anything breaking out. Jim Quinn from the Quinn and Rose in the Morning show was the MC.
Thanks for the update. I went to the Saturday Tea Party in Pittsburgh but have to work today.
So how many people would you say showed up?
And do you think the P-G will cover it, like they keep covering the 300 or so Union thugs that protested over the card check bill?
GIant crowd here at the Capital Building steps here in Baton Rouge
Hi just got back in from the Greensburg, PA Tea Party. I also am not good at estimating crowds, but I would guess it was 500 to 600 (maybe more...we were up against the Courthouse building but NOT on the the grass or the mulch in the retaining wall!!! We obey all laws!!!) (That’s a tiny joke).
Met Sneakers...what a doll, such a nice lady...felt like I ‘knew’ her forever. She was our official photographer. She’ll be posting her pictures later...she has a much, much longer ride home than I did so it will be awhile. By happenstance, Sneakers recognized BadRay and SmokeyB...we met we talked; met some of their friends really, really nice people.
Our crowd was larger than we expected. Greensburg is a tiny little city east of Pittsburgh and it was rainy/drizzlie there too; the Tea Party was held in the Courthouse Square (that is why it was hard to judge the crowd size). Local Pittsburgh TV was there (saw the camera’s and the uplink truck...being ‘up.’) Parking was problematic (its a small, business center in the middle of a work day) so the turn out just warmed my heart that it was so big. Young people, retireees; business people, kids, bikers (P6 we saw a couple of the Dogs you posted about) and FReepers (current and former).
Sneakers took pictures of great signs. Our Greensburg speakers were Rose (of Quinn and Rose!!!) and a wonderful Reverend (he had a great speech; sound system was spotty...we missed his name). Rose was her usual awesome self...heard her talk loud and clear (Sneakers got a great picture of her as well).
My only regrets...not taking my two youngest out of school; and ‘chickening’ out of making a sign. Next time I will. Also...what was I thinking parking on top of a very steep hill? Thankfully I had my inhaler. Met some nice people who huffed and puffed up Main Street with me...we talked (in between gasps for air) as best we could. LOL
Lastly...talking w/Sneakers we both remarked how awesome it was to be doing the same thing, in little Greensburg, PA that was happening with fellow Americans all over the Country.
G-D Bless America!!!
