MEXICO CITY -- A woman was arrested guarding an arsenal that included an anti-aircraft machine gun -- the first weapon of its kind seized in Mexico, police said today.
The arsenal belonged to a group linked to the powerful Beltran Leyva drug cartel, federal police coordinator Gen. Rodolfo Cruz said. It also included ammunition, five rifles, a grenade and part of a grenade launcher. Mexican drug cartels, battling a fierce crackdown by soldiers and federal police, have increasingly gotten hold of higher-powered weapons, even military-grade arms such as grenades and machine guns. That has left police -- particularly state and municipal forces -- grossly outgunned, and many officers have quit following attacks.
Cruz said the confiscated .50-caliber, anti-aircraft machine gun can fire 800 rounds per minute and is capable of penetrating armor from more than 5,000 feet (1,500 meters). Police on a routine patrol Monday found the gun fitted atop an SUV at a house in northern Sonora state.

I would absolutely love to introduce V.P. Dick Cheney to a more efficient way go on a duck hunting spree. Right?
And hand grenades. Where can I buy those?? I would also like to impress V.P. Dick Cheney about new ways of going on a fishing spree. Right?
Mexicans seem to be better outdoorsmen than us. They should be on the cover of Field & Stream.
Ooops...looks like there is on lone after ban Maadi.
That's a lot of mags for one crummy semiauto AKM.
A Ma Deuce is a lot larger than that.
The .50 cal RIFLE is on the table to the left.
I suspect the machinegun they are talking about is
in the back of the pickup in the two photographs,
a mini gun of some kind.
Look at the truck picture on the left, second photo with the chopper. The AA looks to be in the truck bed.
Its so small you cant see jack
The girl in the middle is guilty, but I’m not sure about the girls on either side of her.
I see ONE empty 50. cal casing behind the 9mm sellior and bellot 9mm handgun ammo in the middle picture.
I call BS
I think the girl in the middle would clean up nice.
Probably meaner then a snake though.
Maybe
A 1919???? What in the world are these media flakes smoking?
For the uneducated...
The Browning 1919 is a .30 caliber belt fed machine gun. It fires the .30-06 or converted to fire .308 rifle round. The sample in the picture is interesting because it is sitting in the pintle clearly showing the large mounting hole in the pintle... this means it’s a gun that was sent from the USA to Israel.
The US uses a 7/16 inch mounting bolt while the Iraelis modified them to 5/8 inch. This gun did not come from the US if that is what these idiots are claiming.
The gun is capable of shots out to about 1200 yards accurately. It is NOT an anti-aircraft weapon and the M2 tripod is for infantry engagement of ground targets.
Also, I like how the gun is loaded. Frakking idiots.

The Mexicans still should run with it. Go to town, Mexico!
Weren’t the Israeli rigs 8mm mauser?
Some were until the surplus stock of 8mm ammo was used up from WW2. The Isrealis then converted all of them to .308... except some that they sold. Given that the belt in the gun in that pic shows .30-06 ammo, it’s definitely a gun that came in from over seas... to bad too. 1919’s are fine weapons.
Mike
They are fine for spraying suppressive ground fire
Useful idea for ships to have off the Gulf of Aden.
