A carrier group with additional escort vessels could act to be a constant rapid reaction force to American flagged vessels - able to use naval air or surface forces to “eliminate with extreme prejudice” any pirating vessels (of any size) that threaten American flagged vessels. The CIC of a carrier group could easily keep constant track of all US flagged vessels in the areas. If necessary we could even put military gun crews on them as during the last world war. With removal weaponry if necessary.

Anyone else notice the statement given by the woman from the ship owner’s company? She gave a statement on behalf of Mrs Phillips & the family thanking the Navy & the entire United States of America but curiously made no mention of anyone currently living in the White House.

Had Obambi not allowed local command decisions to control, the Captain would be dead, the United States would have been embarrassed and all terrorists and terrorist-states emboldened. So Obambi narrowly staves off humiliation this time. As for the future, we’ll just have to see — I’m not optimistic.

The story indicates the actual decision was left to someone else....the rescue/sniper crew. Shrewdly structured to accept credit or defer blame.

I saw this earlier and it was very disappointing.
First words out of Cowan’s mouth was not huzzahs to the snipers, the Navy or Phillips.
It was to Hussein.
Which is really kind of bizarre ,when you think about it.
Why would Cowan single out Barry for doing what any normal Commander in Chief would do ?
Maybe Cowan was actually surprised that BO ( not to be confused with the new dog, Bo )
didn’t order the Navy to throw basketballs and pizza at the
lifeboat.
Or maybe Cowan is pandering for a defense contract for his security company .
