Even if this was all military, the brass would have those servicement debriefed, if they were involved in any kind of action like this. It’s not something out of the ordinary. It’s to be expected.

Excuse me but we already know the WHY of it. There is a thriving piracy operation in the failed-state of Somalia. We also know HOW to stop it, if we are interested. There are a range of options: convoy, arming the ships, security guards, etc. None of them involve "law enforcement."

Yep, the “why of it” has been several years of many other countries paying ransoms and not doing a thing about it. You can thank all those other countries for this problem. The US had nothing to do with it, that’s for sure.

Yep again — but *not* with the US “bailing out” those other countries who continued “supporting” the pirates. Nope. I see no reason at all for the US to be paying for this kind of operation. The US had nothing to do with paying ransoms and encouraging these pirates over the years. Make those other countries take care of their own problems.

The Obama administration has *enough bailout money* on the table, without “bailing out” these other countries...
