He’s such a weinie.
Nobody told him what to say yet. . .either that or his answer hasn’t been loaded into his teleprompter.
The piracy issue is not cut and dried. It is very nuanced. Since the pirates are muslims, the ransom money is going to a good cause, and it is a very effective way of wealth redistribution. It also highlights the weakness and disunity of Western "powers" compared to 4th world failed states and is good for the egos of all oppressed people.
So stamping out the pirates may not be a good deal. I'm sure obammy will find something good to say about them.
Not just a weenie, but actively trying to build a case for NOT exerting the sovereignty of the US on the high seas. After all, we have annoyed these poor Somali pirates, flaunting our wealth by parading that wealth in ships past their coastal waters, and it is only right that we give up our right to protect these ships, and pay tribute th these pirates, that they should be annoyed no more.
Except then they would only EXPAND their operations, becoming ever more bold, as their actions are not subject to any punitive response.
What is needed is a task force cruising the the region, with assault aircraft on the ready for launch, and when a report of a piracy taking place comes in, the mother ship or the shore station from which the pirates departed is obliterated massively and with no attempt to take captives.
Two or three such massive and merciless responses would go far in reducing this piracy business. Theodore Roosevelt confronted this situation a century ago with the telegram that was tersely worded, “Perdicaris alive or Rasuli dead!” This was in response to a capture of an American citizen by a North African bandit, when US warships were standing off the coast at Tangier.
Perdicaris was released forthwithly. And it got TR elected in his own right.
like housing is more important than an American ship that was attacked by pirates. Dear God...save us.
A FUBAR an hour from this circle jerk of an administration!
