The president of a Philadelphia day care center has been arrested and charged with cheating the state out of more than $400,000 earmarked to feed needy children and using the money to fund an extravagant lifestyle, authorities said today.

Tyron B. Ali, president of the non-profit Logan Child Care Resource Center on North Broad Street, was charged with more than 2,000 counts including forgery, tampering with public records and criminal conspiracy.

Ali, who was arrested Thursday, was being held last night at the Dauphin County Jail after failing to post $750,000 bail.

He remained in jail after...”failing to post 750,000 bail.” His attorney, Rahm Emanuel, demanded he be permitted to return to work until he was able to steal another 350,000 and make bail.
