Who were the parties to the agreement that allowed this little boy to be mauled to death? Look, I just don't like pit bulls. They're dangerous and there is no sense in having them. There are plenty of other outstanding dog breeds to choose from. You can be responsible and still have your pit bull get loose and hurt someone or hurt someone on your property. This is not just about personal responsibility. Dogs have minds of their own.

This is no big issue of mine. I'm not pushing for anything. But if my city or my state wanted to ban pit bulls, they'd get no opposition from me. In fact I'd vote for such a ban if given the opportunity. Those animals are a menace.

Would it be ok if the Feds passed a ban on certain breeds and sent armed ATFE agents to enforce it? Would you vote to ban machine guns from your community? These are not rhetorical or argumentative questions, they are legitimate responses to your percieved need for government control and safety. I realize there is no second amendment right to own a dog, but there are lots of natural rights that aren't spelled out. Have you ever been kicked by a donkey? Why should anyone be allowed to own one of those when horses are much less likely to do that?

In short, you are proposing a bit of statism that seems to make sense to you, but solves nothing since bad people will abuse other breeds. Worse, it acclimatizes the sheeple towards totalitarian government control instead of enforcing responsible behavior if there is reasonable suspicion of irresponsible behavior.
