What kind of telescope would it take to spot it. A major observatory?

They are probably lying. I doubt anything is in orbit. NORAD knows for sure.

Yeah, I just found an article where he says it was “a provocative act”.

Another sugar coating.

URGENT — North Korea state-run media says “communications satellite Kwangmyongsong-2” has successfully entered into orbit.

Their effort with a Taepodong-2 in July 2006 failed and yet they said they put one "in orbit" (heralding it as the Gwangmyungsong-1).

Now three years later they try again and they say it is in orbit.

Which begs the point if they will get caught up in their own lie which they may forget. (They lie so much it must be difficult to keep track of all of them so they dont contract later. There must be a Chief Section, Department of Lies to the Outside World, in KWP headquarters in Pyongyang.

Will they herald this as the FIRST TIME they have but a satellite in orbit(?)! Or will they say this is the second time?

Merits watching.

I do believe that somewhere there is an internet satellite tracking service.
is this just a Sputnik or a device waiting for an order to be a ballistic weapon?

Sat, 12 Sep 1998 23:54:00 -0400 (EDT)

(found this old item on Google)

On the recent reports (U.S. Senate / U.S. State Department / South Korean
foreign ministry), I wonder if this might be the explanation: The North
Korean rocket was a satellite launch attempt that failed to get anything
into orbit. The launch itself, however, would be desribed as a satellite
launch attempt, and not a ballistic missile test (for whatever difference
that makes). This might be significant in policy analysis and response.
So the report that “it was a satellite launch, but the satellite isn’t
working” really means that the event was an orbital shot but the rocket,
not the payload, failed. This would be consistent with NORAD claiming
nothing in orbit, and if the U.S. really tracked a 3rd stage firing that
was consistent with a launch attempt, that information could have gotten
blurred as it was passed to non-technical people and mixed with the
North Korean description of events. Though I really don’t know, of
course.

I live in Alaska and there is positively zero coverage about this. Again only FR has the facts and news, thanks for being around and to those in Japan.

Ogabe urged Pyongyang to refrain from further 'provocative actions'.

'With this provocative act, North Korea has ignored its international obligations, rejected unequivocal calls for restraint, and further isolated itself from the community of nations,' said the Marxist Muslim Kenyan.

He is due to deliver a speech later in Prague calling for the elimination of all nuclear weapons across the globe.

NKorea says its satellite in orbit is transmitting revolutionary songs as “Song of General Kim Il-sung and “Song of General Kim Jong-il”.

Are they too dunderheaded in New York to even check the media in Europe and Japan?

They don't want to report the news on time. They need time to spin it or they want time to cover it up. They don't want any other country to seem threatening because they want the U.S. to seem like the evil one so they can shape it.

They're also hiding the truth to protect Obama. They don't want him to make any bad decisions that of any importance.

Shows Obama and the Democrat controlled government in America are weak as was precisely predicted.

This firing a ballistic missile over Japan ain’t no joke. This is historic and it’s a serious provocation escalation. Should a missile have been fired over North Korea, they would have declared it an act of war.

It is designed to test the weak inconsistent newb Obama who is nothing more than an inexperienced community organizer with a pop star delusion. Obama blinked. And now everyone knows it.

What’s even worse is the Clinton’s sold them the technology. Oh and also gave technology secrets to the Chinese as well and China is gleefully enjoying this. Now NK will be selling this stuff to other bad guys. NK gets to strike America through other, thanks Clinton Administration.

Another thing those Democrat “Brethren” Leftists in the “Democrat” People’s Republic of North Korea will do is get satellites up. Those satellites will be used to target us as they further develop their technology over time and also to give better and better imaging data to groups like Al Qaeda and other bad guys that the Leftists in America, like Code Pink and the Democrats, don’t want us putting panties on their heads or treating them a bit rough now and then as required.

That’s how this stuff always starts. They get one rocket up, then another improving each time, working through failures and just keeping at it. Next thing you know, over time as empty threat after empty threat rolls off the lips of the Democrats, they have an intercontinental thermonuclear arsenal capable of putting a world of hurt on us and our allies – and, they’re willing to use it.

Course the Liberals in this country, think all you have to do is go overseas and Bash America like Obama and the Democrats do, and “then the bad men suddenly will like us ‘n stuff”. Pretty much the extent of the intellect of the Democrat party.

Notice how Kim Jung Il waited until Bush was out before he dared to do it. They know Bush doesn’t screw around.

The bad guys know weakness when they see it. They can smell it. All over the Democrat party is nothing but freaks and war protesters, gun grabbers, fear, weakness, deviants, defeatism. They took one look at Obama and the Democrat party, laughed and said “LOL, we pwnd Obama!” And Japan. The NK’s don’t screw around with touchy feeling sensitivity that Democrats think that’s all you need when dealing with hard core elements around the world.

This is what happens when you put defeatists and pacifists in power during a time that calls for just the opposite. The bad guys never respect weakness. You would have thought we would have learned that by now in the 230 some odd years.

America, under Obama, is impotent. And all the world knows it. THis may likely be a prelide to direct attacks to American interests. Obama is the one who bows to Saudi princes. Obama is the one who apoligizes to world leaders for America’s strength.

America is now a weak and timid puppy under Obama.

NORAD knows for sure.

The US knows every inch this rocket traveled. They won't say because it would leak our capabilities.
