The number of fatherless people in the prison system is staggering. (I think over 70-75%)

This observation is akin to the shricnks saying children who are spanked are disruptive in the future. Attention psychologists, could this be because the children are taught right and wrong and are disruptive when the see wrong in their older years?

Fathers taught sons and daughters there is right and wrong. There are exceptions but they are exceptions that prove the rule because they establish the need for parternal rule teaching.

Spanking a separate issue. One man’s spanking is another man’s beating.

A better way to phrase it is in terms of discipline and structure. Discipline takes many forms. It doesn’t have to be physical. In fact, it is much more valuable to discipline a person’s will and learn self control. A woman _could_ do it, but I do not think that is the norm as a father cannot provide all mothering needs either. Religions teach it, but it requires the participation of the individual to reap benefits.

It’s increasingly apparent that positive maternal and paternal influences are vital to the formation of healthy individuals.
