Honestly, my biggest hang up is that I cannot understand how everyone in this thread is SO sure of themselves.

Humility is a dying art. It has always been scarce among the scientifically-driven who value so highly their own intellect — but even among faithful Christians, people are indescribably assertive in giving answers that they cannot know with any certainty (much less absolute certainty).
